Pablo García: the Pichichi of La Roja U-19 chooses Barça

Pablo García is the striker of the moment in Spain. The Betis youth player scored a 'poker' with the U-19s in the Euro 'semis' and has made clear his preference for Barça in the future

Spain's U-19s advanced to the final of the European Championship being held in Romania, after an unforgettable victory in the 'semis' against Germany in a crazy match (6-5). Pablo García was the hero of 'La Rojita' with a poker that allows the National Team to defend its title this Thursday in the final against the Netherlands.

The 19-year-old striker scored 8 goals and 5 assists with the Betis reserve team in 24/25 and, against Germany, scored an Olympic goal, another spectacular goal after a great individual maneuver, and a couple more as a true '9', being in the right place and time to finish.

Although he has a contract with Betis until 2029 (he has already played three matches with the first team), Pablo already has several clubs after his steps. After his exhibition at the Euro, the Sevillian was sincere about his aspirations for the future.

In a chat with 'COPE', García did not hesitate to choose FC Barcelona as his favorite team, after Betis, although he keeps "his feet on the ground" thinking about what's coming.

Pablo García prefers Barça: Will he have an opportunity with the culés?

"I have a preference, I am a Real Betis fan because it is the team of my life but I am much more drawn to Barcelona. Here I always hang out with those from La Masia, who in addition to being great players are great people," explained the Andalusian striker.

However, he made it clear that he has been a Betis fan since he was a child and, for the moment, prefers not to think about market rumors. Pablo arrived at the 'verdiblanco' team with just 5 years old and hopes to consolidate himself in the elite next season.

"I haven't worn any shirt other than Betis'. Hopefully Pellegrini has seen this and is proud of me. Hopefully it will be a boost for the first team, which is what would make me happiest," added García.

The '17' of the Spanish U-19 team equaled the Dutchman Kees Smit and the Germans Said El Mala and Max Moerstedt in the table of top scorers of the 2025 European Championship. This Thursday, he will face the Netherlands in search of the title and the Pichichi (8:00 PM CEST).

For Barça, Pablo García could be a very good reinforcement for the reserve team, but Atlètic's relegation to Segunda B complicates the arrival of players with a promising future. Betis could bring Pablo García together with Pau Víctor in their attack

Looking ahead to next season, Betis hopes to reinforce its attack with Pablo García and one of the Barça attackers: Pau Víctor. Manuel Pellegrini's team already had the '18' culé on their radar in January, but finally the striker closed the 24/25 season with Hansi Flick's team.

However, the limited playing time in the second half of the season with the azulgrana team sentenced his inclusion in the list of discards of the German coach for 25/26. The most likely thing is that Víctor will leave on loan, although a transfer in the order of 3 million euros is not ruled out.

Pablo is a natural right winger, while Pau prefers to play on the left or as a reference in the area. Therefore, they could form a very interesting duo next season, as long as Betis manages to anticipate other LaLiga teams for the culé striker.
