FC Barcelona could still find a new destination for Vitor Roque in this winter market: Palmeiras in Brazil

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona could still have a chance to cash in on Vitor Roque before the next summer transfer market of the 2025-26 season. Although the winter transfer window in Europe closed on February 3, the blue and claret team still has the option to find him a place in a team whose league keeps the transfer period open.

In this sense, the main possibility for FC Barcelona to offload Vitor Roque would be in Brazil, a country where the transfer market is still open and will remain open until February 28. Therefore, the land of the 'Canarinha' could still be the destination for 'Tigrinho', especially considering the strong interest that Palmeiras seems to have for his services.

According to the Brazilian media 'UOL Esporte', the priority of the 'Verdão' is to sign Vitor Roque this February since he is a player who pleases the sports management of Palmeiras and their coach, the Portuguese Abel Ferreira. The Brazilians hope to count on the collaboration of FC Barcelona so that the operation can take place.

The main problem in selling Vitor Roque to Palmeiras

However, the main complication seems to be the presence of Real Betis in the equation. Vitor Roque has a contract with the Andalusians until the end of this 2024-25 season, with the possibility of extending the loan for another year. Therefore, it seems unlikely that the 'verdiblancos' would part with an interesting option in the offensive plan, which would clearly weaken the squad by not having the alternative to seek reinforcements, and they could obtain as the only return compensation for the transaction.

Despite the fact that Vitor Roque is currently experiencing a significant goal drought, so far, the player from Timóteo is among the top scorers of Real Betis this season with seven goals, only surpassed by Gio Lo Celso (eight). Furthermore, although the arrival of 'Cucho' Hernández is presented as a great option in attack, it seems the Andalusians are not willing to part with an asset that adds depth to the team.

The outcome of this operation is still to be seen. It was previously mentioned that Palmeiras would be willing to offer €27M for 80% of Vitor Roque's rights, which is a slightly higher proposal than the purchase option that Betis has on the former player of Athletico Paranaense, which is €25M also for 80% of his transfer. It seems unlikely that the 'verdiblancos' will exercise this clause.

The 'Verdão' does not rule out making an offer for 'Tigrinho' in the summer

At the same time, the scenario is not ruled out that, if Palmeiras does not manage to sign him at this moment, they will try again in June. The 'Verdão' could take advantage of the extraordinary transfer window that FIFA will open from June 1 to 10, with the aim of allowing teams to reinforce themselves ahead of the XXL Club World Cup that will be held in the United States in 2025.
