The FC Barcelona board maintains several names on its transfer list that, in some cases, cause discomfort in Hansi Flick. This is the case with Pablo Torre, since, although the coach has the Cantabrian, the club prioritizes his transfer
Pablo Torre's future is still far from being defined this summer at FC Barcelona. Although Soto de la Marina has been one of the young people who has left the best impression on Hansi Flick, the board, based on the need to make money as soon as possible to be able to sign, seeks to take advantage of the Cantabrian's performance on the tour American to close a sale in the order of 6-7 million euros.
Pablo comes from a non-productive loan to Girona in 2023/24, where he played a total of 29 games (802 minutes) in which he added a goal and a couple of assists. The 21-year-old player did not manage to gain Míchel's trust, but he does seem to convince Flick to take him into account for 24/25, a season in which Barça does not have too many alternatives in terms of midfielders. While waiting for Gavi's return, Fermín López and Marc Casadó are emerging as the main alternatives to Frenkie de Jong, Gündogan and Pedri, in theory untouchable in the Barça scheme while waiting for reinforcements to arrive in the coming weeks.
In that sense, the new Barça coaching staff sees in Torre a player with enough talent and quality to be a very useful variant in a very long season, just as Fermín was the previous year for Xavi Hernández. The Cantabrian debuted on the American tour with a good first half against Manchester City (2-2), a duel where he scored a goal. Previously, the midfielder had also 'wet' in the friendly against Olot (1-0).
The Barça will only let Pablo Torre go for a good offer
Beyond the economic emergencies, both Joan Laporta and Deco are clear that Pablo Torre will not leave if a good offer does not arrive in the coming weeks. Barça paid 5 million euros to Racing Santander for his transfer in 2022, which is why it is difficult for the club to agree to sell him for less than 6 'kilos'. At the moment there are no formal proposals, although there are several teams interested in the 21-year-old midfielder, one of the footballers that the culés managed to 'steal' from Real Madrid at the time.
