FC Barcelona would have received, from Jorge Mendes, an offer from a Paris Saint-Germain player to reinforce its forward line in this winter market
FC Barcelona is on the lookout for any market opportunities that may seem attractive to strengthen its squad. One of the positions that has been strongly rumored to reinforce is the forward position, where several alternatives are being considered to bolster both the center forward and left winger roles.
In this regard, it's not surprising that options like Marcus Rashford, the forward from Manchester United, are being considered. Rashford is favored by Hansi Flick and the Barcelona sporting direction. The English attacker stands out for his versatility in the offensive line, as he can play as a winger on both sides and as a center forward, a highly valued attribute in the Catalan team.
Marco Asensio has reportedly been offered to Barcelona in this winter transfer window
Recently, Barcelona, always open to market opportunities, has received an interesting proposal for a player who would fit the profile of versatility in the attacking line. According to journalist Eduardo Inda on 'El Chiringuito de Jugones,' Jorge Mendes, a prominent Portuguese agent who represents Barça talents like Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati, has offered a surprising alternative to strengthen the team offensively: Marco Asensio.
Mendes has reportedly proposed the arrival of the forward on a loan with an option to buy basis to find him a new destination, as Asensio has had limited playing time in the 2024-25 season in Paris Saint-Germain's sporting project, featuring in only 15 matches and 748 minutes, as well as facing several consecutive benchings. Additionally, the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia by the Parisian team seems to further limit the playing opportunities for the Balearic player.
Is this an attractive option for the Catalan club?
In light of this situation, PSG would be willing to let Asensio go, a forward with experience in Spanish football having played for both Real Madrid and RCD Espanyol and RCD Mallorca. His versatility, being able to play in various positions such as right winger, left winger, center forward, and attacking midfielder, makes him a viable option.
However, it is clear that this option is not among the most highly valued in the list of priorities. Beyond the inconsistency in his performance, which can have both high peaks and lows, it is evident that his monthly salary of 1.2 million euros does not make him an attractive signing.
