Marcus Rashford is doing everything possible to wear the blaugrana colors: changing agent, offering a salary reduction, and proposing a manageable loan. Will Barcelona sign the English forward?
Marcus Rashford doesn't hide his desire: to wear the jersey of FC Barcelona. After being close to landing at the Camp Nou in the past winter market, the English international has resumed negotiations to sign for the blaugrana club this summer.
In January, his loan was rejected by the culé board, which prioritized internal renewals. But now, with a new landscape, the player has returned with concrete proposals to facilitate his incorporation into Barcelona next season.
Pini Zahavi, Rashford's winning card to reach Barça
Rashford's first move has been to change his agent. After a failed attempt in January with a Spanish agent, the player has now trusted Pini Zahavi, a key figure in recent Barça signings, such as Lewandowski and Hansi Flick. Zahavi has already held informal conversations in Barcelona, including a dinner with president Joan Laporta.
Rashford and Zahavi's strategy includes formulas to make the transfer viable: a one-year loan with an option to buy and a considerable salary reduction, something the player is willing to assume only to play for Barça.
Manchester United only wants a sale
Despite the player's efforts, Manchester United is not considering a loan. The English club is looking for a definitive sale and has valued Rashford at 40 million euros, a figure that Aston Villa —a team that has a purchase option after the loan— would be willing to pay.
Relations between Rashford and United are deteriorated, especially after his poor relationship with coach Rúben Amorim, which accelerates the desire for an exit. However, the English club's position is clear: it will not subsidize his salary or accept intermediate formulas.
Rashford wants to lower his salary... but Barça still hasn't decided
One of the major obstacles remains Rashford's high salary, one of the highest paid in the Premier League. However, the footballer has made it clear that he is willing to reduce his salary to adapt to Barça's salary cap.
Even so, the Catalan club has not made a definitive decision. Rashford's name is on the table, but there are also other options to strengthen the attack.
Barça is calmly studying each market move and considers the incorporation of a powerful, fast winger with the ability to dribble past players, characteristics that Rashford meets, to be strategic. But the economic context demands prudence, and the club wants to be clear about its room for maneuver before committing.
An attack in motion: possible departures and new signings for Barça
While Rashford's incorporation is being studied, movements are expected in Barça's attack. Ansu Fati is close to leaving in search of minutes, and Pau Víctor could also pack his bags. In contrast, both Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, after a great season, intend to fulfill their contracts, despite receiving offers from abroad.
The possibility of adding Rashford adds one more element to an attack in full reconstruction. The Englishman's quality is indisputable, although his commitment has been questioned in some stretches. At 27 years old, and with a contract until 2028, Rashford is facing a crucial decision: relaunch his career in a new scenario or continue in a league where he no longer fits.
Rashford waits for Barça, but time is pressing
In short, Marcus Rashford has done everything possible to wear the blaugrana colors: changing agent, offering a salary reduction, and proposing a manageable loan. But the ball is now in Barça's court. The player wants to choose his destination, and if it's the Camp Nou, he's still willing to wait... but not forever.
