Marcus Rashford will wait as long as possible in the summer for an offer from Barça. Contacts with the club have been positive, but United does not see a clear loan exit

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is an absolute priority for Marcus Rashford with a view to the future. The Manchester United striker is a fixed discard for the 'red devils', but his future is still uncertain after playing the second half of 2024/25 on loan at Aston Villa.

At least that's what Fabrizio Romano believes, who recently spoke about the England international's future on the 'DAZN Transfer' podcast. Although it is a complicated negotiation, the winger is confident of making his dream of wearing the blaugrana shirt come true.

"There are options because he is a player that Barça likes. There have been meetings with his agent. He has been to Barcelona many times. The player would love to play there," commented the journalist specialising in signings.

However, Barça is not yet clear about signing the Englishman. Firstly because United are demanding a minimum of 40 million euros for his transfer. Secondly, because a loan would only be viable if the winger agrees to lower his salary.

The option of a loan for Rashford is gaining strength in the United board

This option is not impossible, as Rashford himself has been the first to convey through his agent his intention to considerably reduce his emoluments to facilitate his departure.

However, his current contract with 'Man U' ends in 2028 and a salary reduction may force him to renew again to nullify his previous contract, for 20 M€ gross annually.

In that sense, the 'red devils' position is clear: Marcus must leave as soon as possible, preferably permanently. The striker is not in coach Rúben Amorim's plans, but according to the 'ESPN' network he is even willing to drop to the Machester reserves to facilitate a new loan.

This loan, however, would include a mandatory purchase option in 2026. By then, Barça's finances must allow an operation of that magnitude (40 'kilos') without so many 'Fair Play' problems.

Rashford will not listen to offers until he has a response from Barça

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford remains firm in his position regarding negotiating with other clubs: he will not listen to offers until he has a clear response from Barcelona. The Englishman knows that the blaugrana team will sign another left winger and that his name is on the podium of options.

With Nico Williams almost 100% ruled out, Luis Díaz (Liverpool) is emerging as the first alternative. The Colombian showed a brutal state of form in his last match with his national team (1-1 against Argentina), but the negotiation with Liverpool will be long and complex.

The 'reds' are asking for 80 million to negotiate, while Barça could pay a maximum of 70 'kilos' for the 'Guajiro'. The arrival of Marcus would be much more profitable, even if it were a transfer, but everything will depend on Barça's economic power to negotiate.

While the '10' of United waits for a blaugrana offer, Inter Milan and several Arab clubs remain attentive to his future. With the 2026 World Cup so close, the 27-year-old winger prioritises staying in Europe to have a chance of returning to the England national team.
