The FC Barcelona board does not rule out strengthening their flanks next summer. Two of the options that most convince the club play for Monaco: Vanderson and Caio Henrique
FC Barcelona is preparing for a very intense summer transfer market in 2025. In defense, the club could incorporate a center-back and a full-back, with the left side being the main priority. However, a natural right-back wouldn't hurt the squad, beyond the great work done by Jules Koundé in the 2024/25 season.
In this regard, Deco is looking at several alternatives that could land in Catalonia for a reasonable price. Two of them, coincidentally, play for one of the rivals that Barça faced this season in Europe: AS Monaco. Adi Hütter's team, already eliminated from the Champions League, can boast of having defeated the Catalans twice (2-1 in the Champions League, 0-3 in the Gamper).
Vanderson, a Right-Back with Great Potential
Monaco paid 11 million euros to Gremio for his transfer in 2022, and the 23-year-old defender is already valued at around 20 million on Transfermarkt. Vanderson stands out for his ability to cover the entire right flank, being a natural wing-back with significant involvement in attack. Not surprisingly, he has provided 13 assists in 116 matches with the French side.
However, with a contract in place until 2028, the Brazilian international is unlikely to arrive for less than 25 million euros this summer. Moreover, in Barcelona, he would find it very difficult to secure a starting position while Jules Koundé maintains the level he exhibited in recent months.
Caio Henrique, Experience for the Left Side
In the case of Caio Henrique, he is a player with LaLiga experience after his time in the Atlético de Madrid academy. Although he only played one match with the 'Colchonero' first team, the Santos native has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Ligue 1 since his arrival in 2020.
The 27-year-old defender still has a contract with Monaco for two more seasons and could arrive in Barcelona for a figure close to 20 million euros. So far, he has accumulated 37 assists in 167 matches with the Principality team, as well as 3 goals. In his country, he played for Santos, Paraná, Fluminense, and Gremio before settling in Europe.
