Gerard Martín could change teams this summer. The English Wolverhampton is interested in the transfer of the Barça full-back, opening the Blaugrana door to the signing of another left-back

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona could soon receive a formal offer from Wolverhampton for Gerard Martín. The team led by Vítor Pereira, although they will not compete in European competitions in 2025/26, hopes to make several additions this summer and the Blaugrana '35' would be one of their priorities.

In that sense, journalist Mateo Moretto assures that Barça will not close the exit door to the 23-year-old defender, although the player has the confidence of Hansi Flick for the next season.

On the contrary, the board positively values making money with Martín to go for another player with more hierarchy for a position where, for the moment, Alejandro Balde remains untouchable.

The amount that Barça could receive for Gerard Martín

Understanding that the left-back renewed last January with Barça until 2028, maintaining his termination clause at 100 million euros, it is likely that the club will give the green light to his departure for a figure close to 10 'kilos'.

Gerard is listed for around €7.5M on Transfermarkt and, if he stays, from next season, he will have a first-team contract, since 24/25 was the last season in which, due to age, he could maintain a reserve team contract (he started the season with 22 years).

During the first part of the season, Martín was highly criticized when he had to replace Alejandro Balde. This led the board to consider signing another left-back in the winter market, but finally the '35' took a step forward in La Liga and Copa from January.

With Álex out for the last month of competition, the 23-year-old defender reached 1,793 minutes of action in 42 games (20 as a starter) in which he added 1 goal and 6 assists.

Although a simple loan is not ruled out, a transfer with a repurchase option and reserving a percentage of his sports rights would be a good solution for the youth player to go to a team where he has more options to be a starter. In any case, his opinion on leaving or staying in Barcelona will be key.

Alejandro Grimaldo, the first option for Barça if Gerard Martín leaves

If, finally, Gerard Martín leaves, Barça will have to go for another left-back and one of the best-positioned options is Alejandro Grimaldo. The Valencian left the Blaugrana academy in 2016 and is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen for a figure close to 25-30 million euros.

The Culés, however, do not intend to spend more than 20 'kilos' on a player who was also rumored as a possible reinforcement for Real Madrid. The 'Whites' opted for Álvaro Carreras (Benfica), another full-back on the Blaugrana radar in recent months.
