FC Barcelona has once again shown interest in one of the great left wingers in Serie A and worldwide, who would be open to exploring a change of scenery for next season

Calendar of FC Barcelona

In the City of Barcelona, the name Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not at all unknown. The native of Tbilisi, star of Napoli, was one of the many names mentioned to reinforce the left wing of the culé club, possibly one of the best left wingers in Italian and world football.

However, this potential transaction, although extremely interesting from a sporting perspective, turned out to be prohibitive for Barcelona, as the Neapolitan team set a significantly high asking price that is incompatible with the economic situation of the blue and garnet team. It is worth noting that Barça faced several challenges last summer related to complying with the 1/1 rule in LaLiga and financial restrictions regarding player registrations.

Now, despite this first failed attempt to sign Kvaratskhelia, it seems that Barcelona will not give up on its desire to secure the services of the talented Georgian winger. In fact, reports from Italy suggest that the Barcelona team may have reactivated their interest in exploring the option to sign the former Dinamo Batumi player.

Barcelona is closely monitoring Kvaratskhelia's situation at Napoli again

Recently, 'Gazzetta dello Sport' stated that both Barcelona and PSG have been closely following the situation of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Despite remaining a regular starter for Napoli under the management of Italian coach Antonio Conte, it seems that his desire to leave the 'partenopeo' squad, even though the club has offered to renew his contract, could be decisive in his search for a new football destination.

Kvaratskhelia deserves to receive a salary more in line with his level of play, as he currently earns around €2 million gross per season at Napoli, a figure perhaps lower than his contribution on the field. Additionally, he would seek a sporting environment that offers greater challenges and options to lift trophies, as the Italian team is currently not participating in international competitions (Champions League, Europa League, Conference). Regardless, they currently lead Serie A after 12 matchdays.

Therefore, Barcelona could seriously consider the option of signing a talent of Kvaratskhelia's quality. The Georgian, at just 23 years old, fits the profile of the left winger that Barça is looking for: a player who is disruptive on the left flank, a 'devilish' dribbler, and a forward who not only excels in goal-scoring, but also possesses the tactical intelligence necessary to create danger and goal opportunities for his teammates. He is ambidextrous and has a wide repertoire of skills that position him as one of the best in his position globally.

The negotiation for the Georgian would not be precisely the most economical of all

However, despite his apparent desire to leave Napoli, his departure will not be easy due to primarily economic reasons. Kvaratskhelia will finish his contract with the 'partenopeo' team in 2027, granting the 'celestes' considerable bargaining power. Additionally, it seems that the squad based at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium would only be willing to let him go if his release clause, which amounts to €130 million, is paid, a sum difficult for Barcelona to assume.

So far, FC Barcelona has contacted the player's representatives to express their interest in understanding his situation and entering negotiations in case he does not renew his contract with Napoli. The Italian club will undoubtedly try to renew his contract with Kvaratskhelia, seeking to increase his salary and slightly reduce his release clause, though not below €100 million. The environment of 'Kvaradona' seems to disagree with this amount and would hope that the clause would be €80 million or less, to facilitate a possible transfer if a club decides to sign him.
