From Italy, they claim that Milan would have proposed an exchange between Lewandowski and Nkunku for the winter transfer window. However, sources close to the Barça forward deny this.
As reported by Calciomercato, Milan would be considering an exchange in the winter transfer window between Robert Lewandowski and the French forward Christopher Nkunku. However, sources close to the '9' of Barça deny any meeting or negotiation related to this scenario
The blaugrana club maintains its roadmap regarding sporting planning and, although the January window could open opportunities, in the culé locker room they understand that Lewandowski remains an important piece for Hansi Flick. The player, for his part, does not contemplate any move mid-season and remains fully focused on regaining his best form after a start conditioned by injuries.
Italy Speculates on Lewandowski-Nkunku Exchange in Winter Market
The news emerged in the Italian media stating that Milan, third in Serie A and still in the title race, is looking for a top-tier reinforcement for the decisive stretch of the season. In that context, the name of Robert Lewandowski would have entered the agenda of the 'rossonero' sporting management as an operation with immediate impact.
According to the published version, Milan's intention would not be to wait for the Pole to finish his contract in 2026 to sign him as a free agent, but to bring his arrival forward to this January. To make it possible, **the Lombard club would be willing to offer Nkunku** as a bargaining chip in an exchange that, from the Italian perspective, would benefit both parties.
The information adds that Milan was planning to meet with Pini Zahavi, representative of both Lewandowski and Nkunku, as well as the Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, to explore the feasibility of the move. However, sources close to the Barcelona forward completely deny that such a meeting will take place.
Why Lewandowski Interests Milan
The Italian hypothesis is based on two main reasons. The first is sporting: Massimiliano Allegri's team is tied for the lead with Napoli and believes that the arrival of a historic goalscorer like Lewandowski could significantly increase their chances of winning the scudetto.
The second reason is strategic. Milan has already shown this season that it has no qualms about betting on top-level veteran players, as it did last summer with **Luka Modric after his departure from Real Madrid**. The Croatian, at 40 years old, has become an important piece of the project, which suggests that the Milan club would be open to similar operations.
Lewandowski's numbers since arriving at Barça remain strong arguments. More than a hundred official goals in two and a half seasons attest to his impact, although in the current season his prominence has been more irregular due to physical discomfort and Ferran Torres's goal-scoring explosion.
Nkunku, a talent who hasn't recovered his best form
On the other side of the scale appears **Christopher Nkunku**, a footballer who signed for Milan last summer after two brilliant seasons at RB Leipzig. With the German club, he scored 70 goals in four campaigns, a performance that sparked the interest of half of Europe and led to a €60 million transfer to Chelsea.
However, a serious right knee injury during his debut as a 'blue' completely halted his progress. At Stamford Bridge, he scored 18 official goals, and after his arrival at San Siro for 38 million plus variables, he has also failed to maintain consistency. In the current season, he has played 9 matches with 0 goals and 1 assist.
Milan believes it still has room to recover the differential player who shone in the Bundesliga, but understands that Barça would only consider a move of this magnitude if it really wanted to open the door to Lewandowski's departure, something that the club and the player's entourage completely rule out.
