FC Barcelona is beginning to see how the possibility of adding money thanks to the sale of Francisco Trincao disappears, over whom they own 50% of the rights. And the player would be close to renewing with Sporting de Portugal and will not leave during this summer market.
Barcelona agreed to the transfer of the forward in the summer of 2023 to the Portuguese team for 7 million euros, with the option of keeping that percentage to get a profit later, for whom they paid 31 'kilos' to Sporting Braga in 2020.
However, the economic intentions on the part of the 'azulgana' team would be very far from being fulfilled, since the 'verdiblanco' team does not want to let go of a player with Trincao's qualities, especially after the departure of Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal.
Sporting bets on Trincao and accelerates his continuity
In this sense, Francisco Trincao appeared this Wednesday (July 30) before the media at the press conference prior to the Superlaca de Portugal, which will face Sporting de Lisboa and Benfica this Thursday, and took the opportunity to confirm that his renewal with 'los leones' is close to being finalized, thus clearing up doubts about his future.
The right winger has managed to give a new meaning to his career, managing to consolidate himself as a key piece of the Sporting project, in addition to reaching a market value of 35 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
During the 2024/25 season, the 25-year-old attacker played 54 games, in which he managed to score 11 goals and provide 19 assists. In this way, the forward knocked on the door for his club's board to launch without hesitation to offer him a renewal.
Barça could stop receiving up to 40 million for Trincao
It should be remembered that Francisco Trincão currently has a termination clause stipulated at 80 'kilos', with a contract until the summer of 2027. Thus, in the event that any club had decided to execute it and take over the services of the Portuguese player, Barça would receive about 40 M€, as a result of the existing agreement between the parties.
A few weeks ago, the Catalan team tried to put pressure on Sporting to sell the player, preferably to the Premier League, taking into account that it is a league that pays exorbitant amounts without hesitation.
It should be remembered that market speculations pointed out a few days ago that Trincao had aroused the interest of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.
However, who apparently showed greater conviction for the forward was Manchester United, where the name of the Portuguese winger would have gained weight, mainly because his former coach Rúben Amorim wanted him in the team.
Another club to which he was linked was Bayern Munich, but they have already closed the incorporation of Luis Díaz. Although none of the teams would have made moves for the Portuguese player, the most affected is Barça, since they aspired to receive a pinch of a possible operation, which apparently will no longer take place, at least during this summer market.
