The future of Fermín López could take an unexpected turn in the winter market. Due to his limited role with FC Barcelona in recent weeks, PSG and Manchester United are trying to sign him
Two giants of Europe are ready to fully enter the bidding for Fermín López in the current winter market. Recent reports indicate the interest of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the 21-year-old midfielder. The player has a contract until June 2029 and a release clause of 500 million euros, so for now, there is complete calm at Can Barça regarding his future.
However, both Luis Enrique and Rubén Amorim are closely monitoring the situation of the Andalusian player. In the case of PSG, 'Lucho' prioritizes the arrival of another attacking midfielder/winger, as the young Désiré Doué (left winger) is not convincing the Asturian coach. Paris must seek a miracle in the Champions League against Manchester City and Stuttgart. If they make it to the 'playoff' spots, it would be ideal to add another forward, as the team cannot rely solely on the sparks of Ousmane Dembélé.
For its part, United is also starting to despair over the lack of 'firepower' in their attack. Amorim does not count on Marcus Rashford and has also opened the door for Alejandro Garnacho, two moves that force the 'Red Devils' to bring in at least one winger in January. Fermín would fit very well in both teams, with high chances of enjoying the starting position that he will hardly have in Barcelona.
Barça will only listen to offers for Fermín next summer
However, the blaugrana team has no intention of negotiating his departure in January. Hansi Flick considers the player from El Campillo a key piece for his rotation plan, despite the fact that the returns of Gavi and Frenkie de Jong significantly limit his opportunities to enter the XI. The midfielder was only a starter against Barbastro (0-4) in the four matches played by Barça between the Cup and Supercup, the latter being a tournament where he barely played 27 minutes in the 'semis' against Athletic.
This factor could be exploited by PSG and 'ManU' to convince him to leave the blaugrana team for a price close to 50-60 million euros, his current value on Transfermarkt. In any case, Barça will only listen to offers if the player requests to leave, a stance that the management has been implementing with most of the squad. López has 1 goal and 3 assists in 19 matches (717 minutes) so far this season.
