The FC Barcelona board has at least two goalkeepers in mind as alternatives to Ter Stegen for the next season. In addition to Diogo Costa, Deco is also keeping an eye on Marcin Bulka
FC Barcelona does not rule out going for another goalkeeper next summer. The serious injury of Marc-André ter Stegen, who will turn 33 in April, has already forced the club to bring Wojciech Szczesny out of retirement this season, but all signs point to the Polish player not continuing at the club in the 2025-26 season. In this sense, the doubts about the German's recovery lead Deco to 'scout' the market in search of reliable alternatives for the medium and long term.
The new 'low-cost' option on the Blaugrana radar is Marcin Bulka. The Polish player is under contract until 2026 and could arrive in Catalonia for a very affordable price if he ultimately decides not to renew with Nice, the club where he has shone in Ligue 1 since his arrival in 2022. The 25-year-old player did not find a place at Paris Saint-Germain, the club he joined in 2019 from Chelsea's youth academy.
Diogo Costa, the option that convinces Deco the most for the Blaugrana goal
The other alternative, perhaps the one that convinces the Blaugrana sporting director the most, is Diogo Costa. The Porto goalkeeper is under contract until 2027 and is unlikely to leave for less than 45 million euros. A couple of years ago, Jorge Mendes wanted to bring the player from Rothrist to Barcelona for a price close to 12 'million', but the Blaugrana team, constrained by their 'Fair Play', opted for Iñaki Peña to replace Ter Stegen.
This season, Costa has conceded 24 goals in the same number of appearances with Vitor Bruno's team, but he also has 13 clean sheets this season. The 'dragons' promoted him to the first team in 2019 and, since then, he has made 178 official appearances. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was also a starter with Portugal in the last European Championship, shining in the round of 16 with three saved penalties against Slovenia.
