Juventus are considering releasing Vlahović. Barça, with their striker defined, should they value his signing if he becomes free?
Juventus seems to have finally made the decision to part ways with 25-year-old Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović in this summer transfer window. In fact, the 'Vecchia Signora' is no longer just considering letting him go via a transfer —being one of the most sought-after strikers in the market— but is also evaluating faster ways to dispense with the services of the former Fiorentina player.
Juventus considers terminating Vlahović's contract
According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the 'Juve' —a club that recently secured the services of Canadian striker Jonathan David— does not rule out proposing to Dušan Vlahović's agent, Darko Ristic, an agreement to terminate his contract. The proposal aims to avoid paying him the €19.4M gross he would earn in the 2025/26 season.
In this regard, as the cited source states, it is still unknown whether the Belgrade native and his entourage will accept the proposal. This will be presented during a meeting to be held in the coming days between the '9's representative and the Catalan club.

It is worth noting that Juventus seems to be in a hurry to offload the Serbian international, to the point that, as reported from Italy, they have set a €20M asking price. The 'Bianconeri' would reject any formula that involves paying Vlahović a severance package to facilitate his departure this summer.
The Serbian could leave 'for free': Should Barça try to sign him?
If that scenario does unfold —with Dušan Vlahović leaving as a free agent—, could he be an option worth considering for FC Barcelona? Probably yes, as he is a striker who, despite not being at his peak, is known to be one of the best ‘number 9s’ in the world when in top form.
| MATCHES | G | A | MINUTES PLAYED |
|---|---|---|---|

However, his arrival this summer could be conditioned by the current situation of the Catalan team, which is mainly focused on reinforcing the squad with a top-tier left winger, with Luis Díaz (Liverpool) and Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) as the main candidates.
Additionally, it must be noted that Barcelona seems to have postponed the signing of a top-level ‘9’ until next summer. This is because, for the 2025/26 season, the club already has two solid alternatives for the striker position: Robert Lewandowski as the main starter and Ferran Torres as a valuable substitute.
Dani Olmo can also play as a false ‘9’. Even Pau Víctor, if he doesn’t leave the club this summer, could be an option for the attacking front.
Dušan's salary: a key obstacle
Given this context, signing Vlahović looks complicated, especially considering the salary terms under which Dušan would arrive at FC Barcelona. It’s worth remembering that at Juve, he is the highest-paid player —approximately €19.4M gross per season—.
So, under those conditions, it would be an unfeasible operation for the Blaugrana, whose player registration capacity and compliance with the 1:1 rule remain uncertain.
Could Vlahović enter Barça’s orbit?
Still, if the right conditions are met, it wouldn’t be far-fetched for the Catalan side to include Dušan Vlahović among their possible targets. A young ‘9’ whose sporting attributes —as a physically imposing striker, box predator, with a strong scoring instinct, aerial prowess and tactical mobility— could make him an interesting option to consider.
Will Barça make a move for him? Only the transfer window will tell. What is certain is that, should they attempt a move for the Serbian, Barcelona will have to face competition from clubs like AC Milan and Manchester United, already linked to his services.
Now, with the new circumstances surrounding his possible exit this summer, interest from these and other clubs will likely intensify.
