When does the 2024 transfer market close in the main European leagues?

The 2024 summer transfer market is drawing to a close. After almost two months full of transfers that can mark the course of the season, the time is approaching for all teams to finish defining their squads

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The transfer market is closing soon. In the case of LaLiga, the transfer window opened on July 1 and will close on August 30 at 11:59 p.m. In almost two months we have seen teams make several transfers that have caused a stir in world football. Among the most notable are the transfers of Kylian Mbappé from PSG to Real Madrid, Julián Álvarez from Manchester City to Atlético de Madrid and, of course, Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig to FC Barcelona.

It is important to note that each league has its own rules regarding the start and end of transfer windows, giving clubs a certain amount of room to maneuver to be able to make all the signings and transfers they need in accordance with the regulations. It is important to remember that when the deadline fell on a weekend, the closing date was extended next Monday. However, on this occasion, most local competitions have chosen to close the window on Friday.

Premier League

The transfer window for the English league opened on Friday, June 14, although most international deals and free transfers started on July 1. The Premier League closes on Friday, August 30 at 11:59 p.m. The winter window will be between Wednesday, January 1 and Monday, February 3. Here we have seen notable signings such as Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna to Arsenal, Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich to Manchester United and Savinho to Manchester City.

Bundesliga

The transfer window for the German league opened on July 1 and will close on Friday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m. Normally this window closed at 6:00 p.m., but they have decided to increase it by two hours this 2024. The winter window will be between Wednesday, January 1 and Monday, February 3. In the Bundesliga, the transfers of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich, Aleix García from Girona to Bayer Leverkusen and Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund stand out.

Ligue 1

In France, the transfer window opened on Monday, July 1 and will close on Friday, August 30 at 11:59 p.m. While in winter, it opens on January 1 and closes on February 3. In Ligue 1, the transfers of Joao Neves (Benfica) and Désiré Doue (Rennes) to PSG stand out.

Serie A

In Italy, the transfer window opened on Monday, July 1 and will close on Friday, August 30 at 11:59 p.m. The winter transfer window will be between January 2 and February 1. In Serie A we will see very interesting players such as Douglas Luiz, who moved from Aston Villa to Juventus, Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid to AC Milan and Artem Dovbyk from Girona to AS Roma.

Transfer window closing in other leagues

In the case of countries such as Portugal, Denmark and the Netherlands, the transfer window will close on September 2. In Austria it will be on the 5th and in Switzerland on the 9th. Turkey will end the transfer window on September 13, while the Saudi Pro League accepts transfers until September 20 and in Qatar until the 9th. In the case of the North American market, the Mexican league closes on the 10th and in the MLS of the United States the window closed on August 14.
