Deco revealed Barça's plans for the upcoming winter transfer window. Although injuries have greatly complicated things for Hansi Flick's team, the club is not planning to sign anyone in January for now
FC Barcelona expects to approach the next winter transfer window with financial normality for the first time since 2020. The club's return to the Spotify Camp Nou will allow a return to the 1:1 rule and, with it, there would be no 'Fair Play' restrictions on investing in reinforcements. However, the board, for now, is not thinking about reinforcements for January
In an interview for 'Catalunya Ràdio', Anderson de Souza, Deco, made clear the Blaugrana roadmap for the upcoming transfer window. Barça has been severely punished by injuries in the first three months of 25/26, but both the board and the coaching staff maintain full confidence in the depth of the squad to go for all titles in play in 2026
Barça, for now, is not working on signings for January
"**If we are fine and there are no surprises, I don't think it's necessary**," began the Barcelona sporting director. The forward line has been the most affected by injuries, as Marcus Rashford has been the only Barça attacker, for now, free of injuries this season. In this regard, Deco avoided referring to a specific position to strengthen next year. Signing a '9' will be a priority if Robert Lewandowski leaves in June, but for now, there is no urgency regarding this matter"We know perfectly well where we can improve and what difficulties we have. Last season we also went through moments of some difficulty and we were able to overcome it," added the Barça executive.
The last winter transfer window with significant moves at Barcelona was in 2022, with Xavi Hernández having recently taken over the dugout. In that window, Ferran Torres, Aubameyang, Adama Traoré, and Dani Alves arrived, while Iñaki Peña went on loan to Galatasaray
Full confidence in Flick and the squad to overcome the slump of the last month
With the upcoming winter transfer window in mind, the defense could be considered the priority line to reinforce. Barça has conceded 16 goals in the last 9 matches and both **Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde**, at present, do not have reliable replacements, although Hansi Flick does have confidence in them (**Eric García and Gerard Martín**).
Regarding this, Deco agrees with the manager's assessment that, more than the style or manner of defending, the lack of intensity in line-by-line pressing is the key to defensive fragility. Therefore, rather than thinking about reinforcements, the idea is to focus on recovering the injured players and making any necessary improvements.
"When we lower the intensity, we suffer. We need to have the best players. There are no excuses, but when you can't make changes due to injuries and they condition our midfield… There are things to improve even when winning," the Barcelona sporting director pointed out.
