Bayer Leverkusen seems resigned to losing Florian Wirtz in the medium term due to pressure from Bayern and City. Find out if Barça will be able to sign him in 2026!

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona could reactivate their interest in Florian Wirtz in the future if, finally, the Bayer Leverkusen star stays for another year at the 'rojinegro' team. Xabi Alonso's departure may convince the player from Pullheim to change scenery, as long as the club fails to reassemble a competitive team for the 25/26 season.

According to 'SPORT1', the 22-year-old attacking midfielder's release price will drop to 125 million euros in the summer of 2026 if the player rules out renewing. His contract ends in 2027 and, in that scenario, the Bayer Group is clear that it will agree to negotiate a lower price.

Even, the amount could drop to 110-115 'kilos', depending on the performance of the '10' in the 25/26 season and his next contacts with the board. This season, Florian has 16 goals and 15 assists in 44 games, after missing a couple of weeks due to muscular problems.

For Barça, the German international could be a luxury signing for the 26/27 season, although the most likely thing is that the club will prioritize going for a '9' after the departure of Robert Lewandowski. At the moment, the club has Dani Olmo and Fermín López, in addition to Raphinha himself, for the position that Wirtz would occupy in the Blaugrana scheme.

Meanwhile, the Bayern Munich board insists on resuming contacts with the player to secure his signing this summer. The Bavarian team dreams of bringing Jamal Musiala together with the '10' from Leverkusen, completing a lethal offensive trident alongside Harry Kane.

However, the aspirin team, although they know that it will be impossible to retain their star beyond next season, has no intention of letting the player from Pullheim go for less than 150 million euros this year.

A price, this last one, impossible to afford for the Munich team, although the club has enough money in the bank to amortize transfers exceeding 100 'kilos'. Bayern also hopes to incorporate another center-back and an attacking midfielder in the upcoming transfer window, given the imminent departures of Dayot Upamecano, Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller.

Meanwhile, Barcelona remains attentive to Florian's future, although his signing would only be viable in 2026. Manchester City is the other great candidate to sign the German 'crack', but Pep Guardiola's team is also not clear about accepting to pay the fortune that Leverkusen is asking for this year.

🔝Would Florian Wirtz have a place in Hansi Flick's Barça?

For Barça, the arrival of Wirtz would mean a luxury addition to Hansi Flick's ultra-offensive scheme. The player from Pullheim has averaged around 30 goal involvements in his last two seasons and, in the Blaugrana team, he could take a leap in quality alongside the 'LRL' formed by Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

The '10' from Leverkusen is a specialist player in generating and taking advantage of spaces, with a punch and vision of the game that could perform a similar job to what Dani Olmo and Fermín López have been doing this season.

However, the cost of his transfer and his salary are, for now, impossible to fit for a Barcelona still in trouble with its salary cap and 'Fair Play'. The club must resolve at least a couple of sales this summer to balance its finances. Looking ahead, in 2026, the board is confident of having a much calmer outlook to strengthen.
