FC Barcelona Femení dominance in the UEFA Women's Champions League is already legendary. On Sunday, after the coronation of the men's first team in the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid (3-2), Pere Romeu's team closed the semi-finals against Chelsea with another thrashing in London (1-4) that left the tie with an overwhelming 8-2 on aggregate.

In this way, the 'Cules' reach their fifth final in a row and are going for the European three-peat. After the 4-1 in Catalonia, Barça gave no chance of a comeback to a Chelsea side lacking ideas and clearly outmatched in defense.

In the 25th minute, Aitana Bonmatí opened the scoring with a goal that extinguished the hopes of the 'Blue' team. Ewa Pajor made it 2-0 in the 41st minute and, a couple of minutes later, Claudia Pina scored the 0-3 that closed the match before half-time.

Barça crushed Chelsea to advance to their sixth Champions League final

The second half was a formality and Romeu took advantage of the last half hour of the game to give rest to four starters. Towards the end, Salma Paralluelo made it four and, in added time, Chelsea's consolation goal would come, scored by Wieke Kaptein. Curiously, it was more difficult for Barça to show the difference in the first leg in Catalonia.

Ewa Pajor had put the 'Cules' ahead before the break, but the second goal had to wait until the 70th minute, thanks to Claudia Pina. Sandy Baltimore pulled one back for the visitors, reducing a result that could be worth gold for the English side. However, Irene Paredes, in the 82nd minute and again Pina, in the 90th minute, sealed the thrashing that paved the way for the 'Azulgrana' qualification.

In this way, Barça Femení reach their sixth Champions League final in the last seven editions and the fifth consecutive. Everything points to the fact that, once again, Olympique Lyon will be the 'Cules' rival in the decisive match to be played on Saturday, May 24 at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon.

In addition, Barcelona equaled the record of five consecutive finals in the Women's Champions League, established by Lyon themselves between 2015-16 and 2019-20. The French team managed to win all five finals, one of them (2019) against Barça (4-1).

For the moment, Barça and Lyon have played three finals, with a balance of two victories for the Gauls and one for the 'Cules' (2-0 in 2024). The 'Azulgrana' team is going for the three-peat and their fourth Champions League crown in the last seven years, after the successes of 2021, 2023 and 2024.
