Barça Women confirms its first two reinforcements for the 25/26 season. Sydney Schertenleib and Lucía Corrales are the new players of the azulgrana club.
Before leaving for Mexico, FC Barcelona Women announced the arrival of two new players to reinforce the squad. They are Sydney Schertenleib and Lucía Corrales, who will join Pere Romeu's team for the 25/26 season.
Romeu promoted Schertenleib, an 18-year-old midfielder, to the first women's team, who saw minutes with her national team in the last European Championship. In addition, he also incorporated Corrales, a 19-year-old winger, for this summer, who returns from her loan at Sevilla.
Schertenleib and Corrales join Laia Aleixandri, who arrives from Manchester City. So far, three players have been officially signed for Barça Women.
"It is expected that they will have a full season with us. We are counting on them and I am sure they will give us many joys", explained the coach of the azulgrana club after winning the Copa Catalunya against Levante Badalona (1-0).
The market is not closed for Barça Women
Beyond the aforementioned incorporations, Barça Women does not rule out incorporating one more player in August before the market closes. This summer, the blaugrana club suffered the sensitive losses of Fridolina Rolfö, Ingrid Engen, Jana Fernández.
However, Romeu trusts his squad. "In football you never know, things can always happen in August. At the moment we are counting on the players we have and we don't expect many more changes", assured the culé technical director.
Barça Women maintains the ambition to continue winning
Barça Women has marked a dynasty in Spanish football, has dominated the last editions of the Liga F and aspires to win its seventh consecutive trophy; in addition to the Copa de la Reina, which it has won in its last two seasons.
At European level, it has played the last five finals of the Women's Champions League, winning in three. In that sense, Pere Romeu maintains his ambition with his players:
"I am very convinced that we still have a squad to compete against everyone and for everything. I think we will have a very good season. The young people, those from the reserve team, will help us a lot. We have been in pre-season with them for three weeks and they are showing that they have a lot of level. Don't doubt us because we will continue to fight."
The road for FC Barcelona Women begins this coming Saturday, August 30, when they host Alhama El Pozo de Murcia at the Estadi Johan Cruyff at 20:00, in a match corresponding to the first day of LaLiga Liga F Moeve 2025/26.
