Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski start their fourth Champions League with Barça this Thursday. The Brazilian comes from being the top scorer in the previous edition, while 'Lewy' is already the third highest historical scorer of the tournament
FC Barcelona debuts in the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 this Thursday against Newcastle, probably with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha as starters. The Polish and the Brazilian were the team's top scorers last season in all competitions, with 42 and 34 goals, respectively.
The lethal offensive contribution of the duo also extended to the Champions League, where Raphinha won the Pichichi with 13 goals. 'Lewy' scored a couple less (11), affected by a muscular injury that prevented him from starting in the 'semis' against Inter Milan.
After being just a couple of minutes away from reaching the final, the '9' and the '11' are ready to start their fourth season in the Champions League with Barça. Both have several historical records within reach, as long as they manage to repeat their fantastic numbers from 24/25.
Lewandowski seeks to get closer to the top of the historical Champions League scorers

Robert, in his three previous seasons, has 19 goals in 27 Champions League matches with Barça. This has allowed him to stand alone as the third highest scorer in the tournament, with 105 goals, 15 more than Karim Benzema.
Lewandowski maintains an average of 0.78 goals per game in the 14 seasons he has played with Barcelona (3), Bayern Munich (8) and Borussia Dortmund (3). With 'BVB' he had very similar records to those of the azulgrana team, adding 17 goals in 28 appearances.
The bulk of his goals, logically, he scored with Bayern. In total, there were 69 goals in 78 matches over eight seasons. After a difficult first year (22/23) with the culés after dropping to the Europa League, 'Lewy' returned to his best version after the arrival of Hansi Flick to the Catalan bench. The 11 goals of the previous year, in fact, are his second best mark in a season.

And Robert only managed to win the Pichichi of the tournament in the 2019/20 edition, with 15 goals, a season in which he also won what, until now, is his only 'big-eared'. At 37 years old, the Pole could be playing his last season in the European elite, although the '9' is confident of staying physically healthy to play, at least, a couple more years.
In that sense, 'Lewy' would have to repeat improving his records of 24/25 (11 goals) in the coming seasons to have options to get closer to Leo Messi. 'La Pulga' scored 129 goals (120 with Barça), 11 less than Cristiano Ronaldo (140).

Raphinha also wants to continue making history with Barça in the Champions League

For his part, Raphinha also has records to overcome in 25/26. The Brazilian made history as Pichichi of the last edition with 13 goals, tied with Serhou Guirassy (Dortmund). In his two previous seasons with Barça, he only added 3 goals in 12 matches, while in 24/25 he scored 13 in 11 appearances.
In this way, the Porto Alegre native has already been placed in eighth place among the top culé scorers in the Champions League, with 16. The '11' is only 3 goals away from Lewandowski and 5 from Neymar Jr. The podium is completed by Rivaldo (22), Luis Suárez (25) and Leo Messi (120).
Both 'Lewy' and Rafa have good chances of climbing several positions in case of repeating their records of the previous year in the competition. The South American striker, however, is still far from Ney's 40 goals, the Brazilian with the most goals in the tournament. He is followed by Kaká (30) and Rivaldo (27).
