Xavi Hernández is always attentive to Barça's current events. The man from Egara also joined the congratulatory messages to the Azulgrana team after winning the Copa del Rey
FC Barcelona's coronation in the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid (3-2) generated many reactions from former players of the Azulgrana team on social media. Andrés Iniesta, Jordi Alba and Thiago Alcântara were some of the club's references in congratulating the team for the victory in La Cartuja.
Iniesta shared a photo of Jules Koundé's decisive goal, while Thiago wrote "Congratulations family. Very proud" along with a photo of the squad with the trophy. Xavi Hernández joined them, who also shared an emotional message on Instagram.
Xavi Hernández's message to congratulate Flick's Barça
"Say what they say, we are the best club in the world. Long live Barça ALWAYS", wrote the former Azulgrana coach on Instagram stories, accompanied by the flyer that the RFEF shared on its networks to announce the champion of the Cup.
In his two and a half seasons in charge of the Catalan team, Xavi was unable to lift His Majesty's trophy. In 2022 they were eliminated in the round of 16 (Athletic), in 2023 in the semi-finals (Real Madrid) and last season in the quarter-finals again (Athletic).
Flick already equals Xavi's record and is going for an unprecedented record
The man from Egara did win LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup in 2023, his only two titles in the first team. Flick, on the other hand, already equals the trophies won by the Terrassa native with the Copa and the Super Cup. In addition, he is very close to winning LaLiga and is still in the race for the treble.
For the moment, the only Barça coach capable of winning all the titles played in a calendar year was Pep Guardiola, in 2009, achieving the remembered sextuple. Luis Enrique, in 2015, won the treble, the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, but missed out on the Spanish Super Cup.
This year, Flick, in addition to the treble, could win the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, as long as he lifts the Champions League in Munich. This would give way to an unprecedented septet in the history of football.
The German coach already won everything with Bayern in 2020, although he did not obtain the six titles in the calendar year due to the covid-19 pandemic. The Club World Cup of that season was postponed until February 2021.
