The return to the Camp Nou is near, but the calendar is not yet definitive. The Gamper aims to be the first big test
If there is one thing Barcelona is clear about for the 2025/26 season, it is that they will return to their home, the mythical Camp Nou, after two seasons of absence. However, there is still uncertainty about when in the season this long-awaited return to the Les Corts stronghold will take place, budgeted - if all goes well - for the month of September.
On this subject, Joan Laporta, president of the club, spoke in his most recent appearance before the media, which was in an interview with TV3 on the occasion of the special "Nit dels campions". In principle, the 62-year-old president ruled out any option related to the team returning to Montjuïc for the next year: "Surely, against Villarreal, Barça played their last game at the Estadi Olímpic. If there are no unforeseen events, next season we will be back at the Spotify Camp Nou", he warned.

The Camp Nou, ready for the Joan Gamper Trophy?
From this, Laporta set a specific date in which Barcelona could have its first contact with the renovated Camp Nou: "Our desire is to do a pilot test in the Joan Gamper Trophy, which would be played on August 9 or 10. We are working with this hypothesis", he remarked.
Under this premise, it is clear that Barça will try to play the traditional pre-season friendly match, the Joan Gamper Trophy, at home. It should be remembered that it was recently reported on the uncertainty related to the place where this duel would be played, which, beyond serving as a tribute to the founder and president of the Catalan team, also functions as the official presentation of the squad that will see action in the coming season.
In turn, 'Jan' also stated that the Barcelona team has already submitted a request for the first home games of Barça in LaLiga to be played as visitors. This, with the aim of gaining time for the return to the Camp Nou. "The will is to do an important test before the start of the league, and the Gamper we believe would be the best of the tests to see how the field responds, the accesses... The return we imagine should be progressive. Now it is not planned to return to Montjuïc. We have asked that the first league games be played away from home. If everything goes as planned, the first game at the Spotify Camp Nou could be at the end of September", he concluded.
With this in mind, there is no doubt that the team from the Ciudad Condal will return - with limited capacity, yes (60,000 spectators) - to its historic temple, a home that it misses and in which all the culés already want to see Hansi Flick's Barça. A team that has already become great in Montjuïc. Will it also do so in the Camp Nou? Time will tell.
