FC Barcelona is having a very good start to the season in 2025/26 and Ferran Torres is one of the most outstanding players of Hansi Flick's team. The 'Shark' is the offensive leader of the Blaugrana team, with 4 goals and 1 assist in the 6 matches played by the 'culés'.

With his brace against Getafe, the player from Foiós reached 4 goals in LaLiga, one less than Kylian Mbappé. After scoring in consecutive matches against Mallorca (0-3) and Levante (2-3), the '7' went without scoring against Rayo (1-1) and Valencia (6-0), although he gave an assist against the club from which he came from.

Finally, against Getafe, he scored a pair of goals in the first half to set the Blaugrana victory. For now, Ferran's future is not at risk, as he has a contract until 2027 and his termination clause is 1,000 million euros, but his renewal may be a topic of debate in the club's offices from now on.

The numbers prove Ferran right: he is ready to be a starter

In post-match statements after the thrashing of Getafe, the 'Shark' assured that he continues working not only to earn a place in the starting XI, but to maintain the starting position he has enjoyed since the beginning of the season. At least, in the first five matchdays of La Liga.

"I already said that I can be a starter at Barça. I always try to take advantage of the opportunities. Many more goals are coming", he commented to 'DAZN' at the end of the match at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Ferran added a pair of goals and an assist in the four friendlies played in the summer.

In addition, in the final stretch of 24/25, he scored a goal in the first leg of the 'semis' against Inter, another goal in the final of the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid and gave three assists in the last Clásico of the season (4-3).

In that sense, the player from Foiós is having a remarkable 2025 with Barça, undoubtedly going through his best moment since he arrived at the club in January 2022. There was much speculation about his possible departure in the last four summer markets, but the '7' has rejected multiple offers and, now, is betting on renewing his contract.

Barça will address Ferran's renewal when the pending issues are closed

Ferran Torres will turn 26 next February and has also earned his place in the National Team. Therefore, Barça will probably start contacts with his agent, Héctor Peris Ros, in the first months of 2026 to discuss the terms of a new contract.

For the moment, the 'Shark' earns around 10 million euros gross per season and his market value reaches 40 'kilos'. Barcelona closed his transfer in 55 M€ from Manchester City three and a half years ago. Since then, he has 48 goals and 31 assists in 168 official matches with the club.

Before addressing his possible renewal, the board must close other pending issues. Frenkie de Jong, Eric García and Andreas Christensen are, for now, priorities, since the three end their contract at the end of 25/26 and Joan Laporta does not want to start the year with players who, from January 1, have the option of negotiating as free agents with any team.
