Barça could recover Joan García for the match of matchday 11 of La Liga against Elche. The goalkeeper has recovered well from his torn meniscus and could be medically cleared this week

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Joan García is very close to reappearing with FC Barcelona. The Catalan goalkeeper underwent surgery for a tear of the internal meniscus of his left knee on September 27, and his recovery time was estimated at 4 to 6 weeks.

A month after going under the knife, the feelings with the player from Sallent are positive, and his medical discharge this week is not ruled out. García last played with Barça on September 25 in the visit to Oviedo (1-3 victory), which was his seventh official match with the Blaugrana team.

When will Joan García play for Barça again?

In those matches, he conceded 5 goals, but he also kept a clean sheet in 3 games. As planned, the '13' was not available for the Clásico, but he could be included in the squad for matchday 11 of LaLiga, against Elche.

In any case, it is likely that Wojciech Szczesny will remain the starter against the 'franjiverde' team. If all goes well, Joan may return for the match of matchday 4 of the Champions League against Bruges.

The 'culés' visit the Belgian team on November 5 with the obligation to win to enter the TOP-8 of the league that gives direct access to the round of 16. In his European debut, García completed a great match against Newcastle, being key in the Catalan victory with 5 saves.

Barça's next match will be on November 9, in La Liga at Celta's ground. If the player from Sallent were to suffer another muscular setback, his return to action would be postponed until after the November break.

Szczesny has delivered as Joan García's substitute

While Joan García's return to the field is confirmed, Szczesny will continue to occupy the Azulgrana goal. The Pole, although he has not yet managed to keep a clean sheet this season, has completed good performances with Hansi Flick's team in the 25/26.

In the Clásico against Real Madrid, he made 9 saves, including a penalty from Mbappé, which prevented a much heavier defeat for the 'culés'. In total, 'Tek' has conceded 11 goals in 6 matches, mostly as a result of defensive errors and not due to any failure of the experienced goalkeeper.

Marc-André ter Stegen, meanwhile, continues his recovery after undergoing back surgery and could be medically cleared in December. The German, for now, is not in Flick's plans and everything points to his departure in the winter market.
