Barça returned to work this Monday at the Ciutat Esportiva, with Lamine Yamal and Fermín López as the main new additions. Both would be available on Saturday against Girona
The FC Barcelona squad returned to work at the Ciutat Esportiva this Monday after four days of rest. Still without the bulk of the ten internationals who traveled with their national teams on the FIFA date, the group carried out an intense session that had Lamine Yamal and Fermín López as the main protagonists.
Both worked alongside their teammates, with no apparent physical discomfort, and should be available for next Saturday's match in Montjuïc, against Girona (16:15 CEST). The '10' did not play against Sevilla after relapsing from his pubic discomfort, which is why he was removed from the Spain squad.
Hansi Flick will manage Lamine Yamal with El Clásico in mind
However, the player from Mataró trained separately last week, and the conservative treatment has yielded results. Lamine has missed 5 of Barça's last 7 matches, and the team needs him at his best for a crucial stretch of the season, which includes 4 La Liga matchdays, 2 Champions League matches, and the first Clásico against Real Madrid.
In that sense, since Yamal's priority is to arrive physically at one hundred percent at the Santiago Bernabéu, it is likely that he will add minutes against Girona (it is unlikely that he will be a starter) and do the same against Olympiacos next Tuesday. In the League, the ideal would be to give him half an hour of play, while in the Champions League he should not play more than 65-70 minutes.
After his first absence due to pubalgia, at the beginning of September (he was out for three weeks), Hansi Flick made him play 30 minutes against Real Sociedad (he provided an assist) and the full match against Paris Saint-Germain. Before the visit to Sevilla, the winger relapsed from his discomfort, so, against Olympiacos, there will be greater caution with the management of his minutes.
Fermín López Could Start Against Girona

For his part, Fermín López will also reappear against Girona, although the player from Huelva, having accumulated a greater number of training sessions, has a good chance of returning as a starter after four games out.
The '16' was back working on the pitch at the Tito Vilanova field in the lead-up to Sevilla-Barça and, although he was not medically cleared in time to be included in the squad, he has fully recovered from the left iliopsoas injury suffered against Getafe on September 21.
Having completed the three weeks of leave previously indicated by the medical team, and with Dani Olmo unavailable due to injury, it is very likely that Flick will opt for Fermín as an attacking midfielder for matchday 9 of La Liga.
Even more so when the presence of Raphinha against the 'albirrojos' is unlikely, as the Brazilian is still not training on the pitch due to his problems in his right thigh. In the event that the player from Huelva is kept on the bench against Míchel's team, 'Dro' Fernández could be the one chosen to accompany the offensive trident, as he did against Real Sociedad.
