Lamine Yamal consolidates himself as a great Barça star in Korea

The Asian tour has been a commercial success for Barça. The figure of Lamine Yamal, now with the '10' on his back, comes out strengthened from the preseason

Lamine Yamal is making the most of his second preseason tour with FC Barcelona. The Mataró native traveled with the team to the United States in the summer of 2023, but barely played a few minutes in the friendlies against Arsenal (5-3 defeat) and Real Madrid (3-0 victory).

In 2024, due to the European Championship, the winger did not accompany the team on a new American expedition. This year, however, now with the '10' on his back and consolidated as a global reference for Barça, Lamine has generated enormous expectation in both Japan and South Korea.

After the match against FC Seoul (3-7), Lamine shared with the members of the Korean musical group 'ITZY'. The five singers shared a fun photo session with the '10' and other figures of the squad, while, on Friday's free day, hundreds of fans shared with the Barça stars.

Against FC Seoul, more than 62,400 spectators accompanied Barça at the World Cup Stadium in the South Korean capital. Yamal led the Blaugrana attack in a magical first half, scoring a double and with direct participation in the 0-1 scored by Robert Lewandowski.

The Rocafonda native returned the affection of the local public with goals, dribbles and a remarkable physical display. His second goal, which made it 2-3, highlighted the great physical condition of the forward: a cutback to leave two rivals behind and a 'crack' finish against the opposing goalkeeper.

Again, Hansi Flick only gave 45 minutes of play to most of his 'starters'. For Lamine, however, the first match in South Korea was much more satisfactory than the one in Kobe, where the tough marking of the Japanese defenders neutralized his quality in attack.

Looking ahead to the next match (on Monday against Daegu), the Barça star hopes to continue showing his magic in the last friendly of the tour. Yamal had already caused great expectation before the preseason in Asia, thanks to a trip to China to attend commercial matters.

Now, the new Blaugrana '10' faces the final stretch of the summer preparation with his sights set on the Joan Gamper Trophy and the debut in the League against Mallorca. Last season, Barcelona fell in the traditional friendly that closes the preseason against Monaco (0-3), with Lamine entering in the second half.

The then youth player, with the '19' on his back, scored his first goal in the League on matchday 2 against Athletic (2-1). Will he be able to debut his new number by scoring against Mallorca? The Balearic team did not receive goals from the Mataró native the previous year, although they fell in both matches against the Blaugrana (1-5 and 1-0).
