The international break has once again hit FC Barcelona in October. After Dani Olmo and the doubts about the physical condition of Ferran Torres, Robert Lewandowski also returns to Catalunya 'broken'. On Tuesday, the club's medical services confirmed that the Pole suffers a muscle tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh.

The injury occurred after his national team's match against Lithuania (0-2), for matchday 8 of Group G in the World Cup qualifiers. The Barça '9' played the full 90 minutes and scored the second goal for the Polish side in the 64th minute.

However, upon returning to the Ciutat Esportiva, he noticed discomfort in his thigh, and after undergoing the corresponding tests, the muscle tear was confirmed. According to the club, "his recovery will determine his availability."

How long will Robert Lewandowski be out?

In that sense, as it is a hamstring tear, 'Lewy' will be out for 4 to 6 weeks. That is, the 37-year-old forward will not play, at least, until after the November break with Barça.

The team led by Hansi Flick will play 6 matches between October 18 and November 9, when the schedule is interrupted again for the third break of the season (last of 2025).

Robert Lewandowski in a warm-up with Barça.

Thus, Lewandowski will miss, at a minimum, a total of four La Liga matches against Girona, Real Madrid, Elche, and Celta, with the visit to the Santiago Bernabéu being his most notable absence.

The '9' has accumulated 5 goals and 3 assists in 9 Clásicos with the Barça jersey and a total of 11 goals in 17 appearances against 'Los Merengues'. In fact, on his last visit to Chamartín, he scored a brace in the Barça rout (0-4).

Furthermore, Robert will also be unavailable, due to the Champions League, against Olympiacos and Bruges. The experienced forward had already suffered a similar injury in the final stretch of the preseason that prevented him from playing matchday 1 of La Liga and from starting against Levante and Rayo.

So far, he has 4 goals in 9 matches (431 minutes), but has only been in the starting XI in 4 opportunities. Hopefully, Hansi Flick will have him back for the home match against Athletic, the weekend of November 22-23 (right after the break).
