Barça will soon receive the certification of the VIP seats of the new Camp Nou, an essential requirement to have 'Fair Play' in the summer
The FC Barcelona board will soon present the certification that guarantees the construction and operation of the 475 VIP seats of the new Spotify Camp Nou, whose exploitation rights for the next 30 years were acquired by a couple of investment groups from the Middle East in exchange for 100 million euros.
New Era Visionary Group (United Arab Emirates, 70M € for 350 seats) and Fortia Advisor Limited (Qatar, 30M € for 125 seats) took over a 'lever' that allowed the club to return to the 1:1 rule to incorporate players without restrictions.
However, the arrival of Crowe Spain as Barça's auditor last March, replacing Grant Thornton (Culé auditor in the last three years), compromised this income.
The reason had to do with the new auditor's requirement to have the marketed seats fully built and operational, which means that Barça is obliged to certify the work before June 30.
This is how the VIP boxes 'lever' works for Barça's finances
Well, Limak has complied with the established deadlines and will provide all the documentation required by Crowe and LaLiga to recompute the 100 'kilos' from the sale of the seats.
This money, although it will be fully collected by mid-2026, is used to improve Barcelona's liquidity and comply with LaLiga's financial Fair Play by registering additional income that allows to expand the salary limit and sign players.
In that sense, the operation is decisive for Barça to move freely in the upcoming summer market, with the renewals of Lamine Yamal, Wojciech Szczesny and Frenkie de Jong being the first pending operations to be resolved thanks to this income.
The 'ok' from the employers is also pending for the new contracts of Iñigo Martínez and Raphinha, although the Basque's has not yet been signed. The Brazilian did extend his link with the club until 2028 last week, with a significant salary improvement and the readjustment of his clause to 80 million fixed euros.
Barça, ready to strengthen in the summer market?
Similarly, Barça prioritizes returning to the 1:1 rule to be able to reinvest every euro earned in the market in signing new players. The club hopes to close soon the transfer of Álex Valle (6 M€) along with the departures of Ansu Fati and Clément Lenglet.
With this, it will be able to free up enough salary mass to resolve the arrival of another left winger, an absolute market priority for the board and the coaching staff. For now, the name that sounds the loudest is that of the Colombian Luis Díaz, although Liverpool will not let him leave for less than 75 M€.
As things stand, FC Barcelona is preparing to return to the 1:1 rule after resolving the VIP seats mess, an operation that already compromised the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor at the beginning of the year. For the first time since before the pandemic, the club will have financial margin to sign without restrictions.
