At Barça, they believe that Ter Stegen will not miss the Gamper party, so it is expected that, before the match against Como, he will say a few words as captain.
Everything seems to indicate that the board of FC Barcelona and Marc-André ter Stegen are beginning to put aside their differences in order to defend the same colors in the best way.
In this sense, after the German goalkeeper signed the authorization for his medical report to be sent to LaLiga, the club returned the gesture by returning the captaincy he had lost on Thursday (August 8).
Therefore, the Blaugrana team expects the presence of 'MATS' at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, the stage for the 2025 Joan Gamper Trophy against Como, where the goalkeeper will act as captain, but without playing the match.
According to recent information, before the start of the match, it is contemplated that he will address the members and Barça fans in a gesture that, in principle, is expected to be the beginning of the settlement of the relationship between the club and the German goalkeeper, who in recent weeks has gone through tense moments.
Barça, awaiting Ter Stegen's recovery
It is worth remembering that the native of Mönchengladbach underwent a reintervention on July 29 to solve some lumbar problems he was going through, for which he will be out for a few months. The LaLiga Medical Commission is expected to establish his time off next week.
The still convalescing player appeared at the Ciutat Esportiva last Thursday (August 7) without driving his own vehicle, but chose to hire a driver.
In any case, the club has offered its full availability to Ter Stegen. In addition, the Catalan entity has put itself at his service to answer any questions related to his intervention in the Gamper, where the new players of the squad will also be presented.
Likewise, the player's side also assures his presence, since the disciplinary file, derived from his refusal to accept the transfer of his report to LaLiga, was also closed. For now, a calm atmosphere is being perceived in Camp Barça in relation to Ter Stegen.
Ter Stegen's medical report, a way to register Joan García
The importance of sending 'MATS' medical report for the competition's Medical Commission lies in the fact that, based on the goalkeeper's time off, Barça will be able to use a percentage of his salary to register Joan García before the start of LaLiga.
In short, if Marc-André's absence is considered long-term —five months or more—, it would enable the Catalan team to allocate up to 80% of his salary to the registration of the goalkeeper native to Sallent. In the event that the absence is limited to four months, the allowed percentage would be reduced to 50%, as stipulated in the LaLiga regulations.
