Ronald Araújo continues to make efforts to be able to return to the playing fields as soon as possible. On this occasion, the Uruguayan defender used his social networks to share part of the exercises that he is carrying out to regain his physical shape
The FC Barcelona is counting down the days to have one of its key assets in the defensive line back in 'play': Ronald Araújo. The 25-year-old Uruguayan defender is currently recovering from an injury to the right hamstring tendon, which he suffered on July 7 and required surgical intervention. This surgery took place in Turku (Finland) on July 22 and was performed by Dr. Lasse Lempainen.
Fortunately, for the blaugrana team, the prospects for the return of the Uruguayan defender seem quite promising. It should be noted that the native of Rivera is following a specific recovery plan with the goal of returning to action in December of this year, provided no setbacks occur. These types of injuries typically require up to four months to fully heal.
Recently, the Uruguayan used his social media (@ronaldaraujo_4) to share a series of images showing part of his current workout plan. In these photos, he can be seen doing exercises with dumbbells and using a 'fitball'. Additionally, the post included an enigmatic message that reads: "Your advantage is that there is no one like you," highlighting his strong motivation to return to the playing field as soon as possible.
Ronald Araújo, between his recovery and the renewal of his contract with FC Barcelona
However, it is evident that FC Barcelona does not want to rush the recovery of the Uruguayan defender, with whom they have an important issue to resolve: his contract renewal. This matter has been quite controversial, as, pending a new meeting between the player's representatives and Barça, it is still unclear whether Ronald Araújo will extend his contract with the club.
His agreement with the Catalan club ends in 2026 and if renewed, a necessary salary increase will be required. Currently, the Rivera native receives a mere 3.3 million euros net per season, a figure well below what would be expected for his role as one of the key figures in the Catalan team, both on the field and in the leadership of the dressing room.
