Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is still waiting to be able to return to the Spotify Camp Nou as soon as possible. However, there is one issue that is still resisting: obtaining the Final Construction Certificate (CFO), an indispensable document to submit to the Barcelona City Council, and which, after its evaluation, will determine whether the first occupancy license will finally be granted to the Catalan team.

This license becomes crucial for the Blaugrana team to open the doors of the Spotify Camp Nou on the scheduled dates: for the match against Valencia CF, corresponding to matchday 4 of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26, scheduled for the weekend of September 13-14.

Key UEFA visit to the Camp Nou to review the progress of the works

Obtaining this permit is essential for a specific reason: participation in the UEFA Champions League 2025/26. It should be remembered that by the date of the group stage draw, next August 28, the club's headquarters must be defined. According to regulations, this scenario cannot be modified until the end of the group stage in January 2026.

Speaking of UEFA, according to Mundo Deportivo, some employees of the organization chaired by Aleksander Čeferin are expected to visit the Spotify Camp Nou this Thursday, August 21 to inspect the current state of the works. This entity establishes specific requirements to host Champions League matches, which must be met regardless of whether the Catalan team obtains the first occupancy license.

FC Barcelona's plan to gain time and play the Champions League at the Camp Nou

The Catalan team, in an attempt to gain time and ensure the dispute of their matches at home, would have requested UEFA for permission to play the first match of the group stage away from their stadium. Thus, they would have additional weeks to obtain the necessary permit.

Matchday 1 of the Champions League is played between September 16 and 18. While the second will be played between September 30 and October 1. Valuable two weeks of difference so that they can obtain the permit and play the Champions League in their usual home.

UEFA does not respond and the Blaugrana club activates the 'Montjuic option'

However, according to MD, UEFA has not yet responded to the request. Therefore, everything will depend on the draw on Thursday, August 28 in Monte Carlo.

Given this uncertainty, it is not surprising that the club has already secured with Barcelona Serveis Municipals the availability of Montjuic until the end of February, an option that would serve as an alternative stadium in case they cannot see action at the Spotify Camp Nou during the group stage of the Champions League.
