Hansi Flick seems to have a clear idea of his scheme and basic XI for 25/26. Will there be any surprises after the Asian tour? It will all depend on performance and market movements this summer.
Hansi Flick currently has 29 players available in the first team squad, including the newly arrived Marcus Rashford. Of these, only 23 have secured their place in the coaching staff's plans, four are known to be sentenced and another two are on the ropes.
In principle, the German hopes to have a maximum of 25 players available, understanding that there will always be some alternatives available in the youth team to accompany the first team, including the newly signed Roony Bardghji.
In that sense, Flick seems to be clear about what his gala XI will be at the start of next season. Compared to the previous year, the only novelty is in the goal, although there may also be surprises in the center of the field to add more gunpowder to the culé attack.
Hansi Flick does not foresee major changes in his gala XI for 25/26
Except for some very high performance in the preseason or an injury, Barça's gala XI at the start of 25/26 should be:
- #01. Joan García
- #23. Jules Koundé
- #02. Pau Cubarsí
- #05. Iñigo Martínez
- #03. Alejandro Balde
- #21. Frenkie de Jong
- #08. Pedri González
- #20. Dani Olmo
- #10. Lamine Yamal
- #11. Raphinha
- #09. Robert Lewandowski
The basic scheme will continue to be 4-2-3-1, with an attacking midfielder, two wingers and a reference in the area, as well as a double pivot in midfield. Joan García, first summer reinforcement, will be the duel of the goal, with Wojciech Szczesny waiting for his opportunity on the bench.
Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde, absent in the final stretch of 24/25 due to injury, return to the flanks, while Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez start the season as starters, although Ronald Araujo and Eric García can also earn the position. Andreas Christensen is further behind, while Héctor Fort and Gerard Martín, for now, remain the substitute full-backs.
In the center of the field, despite the returns of Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó, Frenkie de Jong starts as the favorite to accompany Pedri González in the engine room after his excellent end to the season. Gavi and Fermín López will wait for an opportunity behind Dani Olmo, in theory the team's attacking midfielder.
Up front, the 'LRL' will be untouchable at the start of the season, with Lamine Yamal already wearing the '10' on his back accompanied by Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. Ferran Torres will be the substitute '9' and Marcus Rashford the replacement on both wings along with Roony Bardghji. At least that's how the roles are distributed prior to the trip to Japan and South Korea.
The Barça squad for 25/26: doubts, discards and untouchables
For the moment, this is how the Barcelona squad is made up for 25/26, waiting to confirm the remaining discards and departures, as well as the official numbers assigned by the club.
Marc-André ter Stegen, Iñaki Peña, Pau Víctor and Oriol Romeu are still part of the squad, but are confirmed discards by coach Hansi Flick even before starting the Asian preseason tour.
Players such as Andreas Christensen and Héctor Fort are also marked as possible discards, as long as the club receives a good offer or the board decides to terminate their contracts.
In the case of Frenkie de Jong and Eric García, both contracts expire in 2026, but they must renew in the coming days. Otherwise, they would enter the list of transferables. Another who may leave is Gerard Martín, as long as he decides to listen to offers outside of Spain.
In the case of Roony Bardghji, the striker signed with a youth team contract, but could stay in the first team if he manages to convince Hansi Flick. Otherwise, it is very likely that he will leave on loan.
