The ranking of top scorers in the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 keeps Robert Lewandowski as the leader with 9 goals. Now, Raphinha is second with 8 goals, one more than Guirassy (7)
The UEFA Champions League resumed its activity this Wednesday with significant updates in the top scorers' ranking. Robert Lewandowski extended his lead as the tournament's top scorer thanks to two penalties scored against Benfica (4-5). The Pole contributed to the historic comeback of the Blaugrana, which was sealed by his teammate and second in the scoring table, Raphinha.
The Brazilian also scored twice in Lisbon to reach 8 goals in the tournament, one more than Serhou Guirassy. The Guinean scored a penalty against Bologna (2-1), which was not enough to prevent the surprising defeat of the Germans in Italy. The 28-year-old forward remains as the second behind 'Lewy' and Rafa with 7 goals, one more than the Argentine Julián Álvarez, another of the 'heroes' of the matchday.
The '9' of Atlético de Madrid led the 'colchonero' comeback with a brace in the second half, allowing him to reach 6 goals, placing him alone in fourth place in the top scorers' ranking. The rest of matchday 7 will be played on Wednesday, where players like Erling Haaland, Viktor Gyökeres, Harry Kane, and Vinicius Jr. (all with 5 goals) will seek to close the gap with the lethal Blaugrana duo.
Between Lewandowski and Raphinha, they have scored 17 of the 26 goals for Barça in the first seven matchdays of the tournament. With the victory against Benfica, Hansi Flick's team mathematically secured their place in the round of 16 along with Liverpool, who also won at home against Lille (2-1) on Tuesday. Although several teams could catch up or surpass the Catalans in the final matchday, their wide goal difference (+15) allows them to ensure a spot among the top eight regardless of what happens next week in matchday 8.
