The 2nd matchday of the Club World Cup confirmed PSG's favoritism. Luis Enrique's team crushed Atlético de Madrid in their debut (4-0), while Bayern scored 10 against Auckland

Paris Saint-Germain is still in steamroller mode this 2025. In their debut in the Club World Cup, the team led by Luis Enrique thrashed Atlético de Madrid (4-0) on a very hot afternoon in Los Angeles. The current European champions were superior from start to finish, even despite playing with an alternative team in the second half.

Without Ousmane Dembélé available due to injury, PSG maintained its overwhelming pace against an Aleti unable to contain the offensive power of the Gauls with their starting XI. Diego Simeone opted for his best men, but before halftime the match was already 2-0 in favor of the French thanks to goals from Fabián Ruiz and Vitinha.

The 'colchoneros' reacted in the second half with a goal from Julián Álvarez disallowed for a previous offside. To make matters worse, Clément Lenglet was sent off before the end and Paris rounded off the thrashing with goals from Mayulu and former Mallorca player Kang-In Lee.

Bayern also debuted in the World Cup with a historic thrashing

Earlier on Sunday, Bayern Munich crushed the weak Auckland of New Zealand with a historic thrashing. The Bavarians rounded off the biggest victory of the tournament (10-0) in a match they were winning by four goals in just 21 minutes.

A double from Kingsley Coman and another pair of goals from Sacha Boey and Michael Olise paved the way for a comfortable victory for Vincent Kompany's team. The amateurism of the New Zealand team and the ambition of Bayern resulted in a brutal thrashing, which was 6-0 at halftime after two more goals from Olise and Thomas Müller.

Müller himself and Jamal Musiala (who scored a 'hat-trick' after coming on in the second half) sealed the ten Bavarian goals. The other match in their group will be played by Benfica and Boca Juniors (Argentina) this Monday.

Disappointing debut for Porto against Palmeiras

After Paris' thrashing against Atlético, Porto and Palmeiras played the remaining match of Group A. After the goalless draw between Inter Miami and Al-Ahly of Egypt, Portuguese and Brazilians also failed to hurt each other in a match where the 'Verdao' deserved more.

With Vitor Roque and Estevao Willian leading the Paulista attack, Abel Ferreira's team provoked multiple clear goalscoring opportunities, but the saves of goalkeeper Cláudio Ramos and the lack of aim of the Brazilians prevented Palmeiras' victory.

With this, all four teams in Zone A are tied with 1 point. On the second matchday, Leo Messi's Inter will face Porto, while Palmeiras will clash against Al-Ahly.
