Lamine Yamal and Pedri enter FIFPRO's Team of the Year: Raphinha is left out

Lamine Yamal and Pedri González were chosen as part of the FIFPRO ideal XI of 2025. The Barça midfielder appears alongside Vitinha (PSG), Cole Palmer (Chelsea) and Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) as the best midfielders of the year, while the '10' from Barça completes the attacking trident together with Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.

The International Federation of Professional Footballers chose the best eleven footballers of the year on Monday, drawing up a line-up, logically, with a majority of members from Paris Saint-Germain. The team led by Luis Enrique won the treble in 2024/25, including their first Champions League, and has 5 members in the XI.

Only one of them (Gianluigi Donnarumma) is no longer part of the Parisian squad. The Italian was chosen as the best goalkeeper of 2025, while Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) and Nuno Mendes (PSG) complete the defense of the ideal FIFPRO lineup.

Raphinha, annoyed by his absence in the FIFPRO XI

One of the great absentees from the XI chosen by the International Federation of Professional Footballers was, without a doubt, Raphinha. The Barça forward was the MVP of LaLiga and Pichichi of the Champions League, in addition to adding 34 goals and 23 assists in the 24/25 season, leading participation in goals in Europe together with Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian also failed to make it into the select FIFPRO list, which also has Erling Haaland and Lautaro Martínez among the most notable absentees. The Brazilian, once the votes were shared, expressed his discontent through social media.

Raphinha, fifth in the voting for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, shared a carousel of stories on Instagram with his main achievements in the 24/25 season. Some of the photographs selected by the Barça winger included laughing emoticons, as an ironic comment on his exclusion from the FIFPRO XI.

Of the players chosen by the union, Jude Bellingham is clearly the most debated. The Englishman closed out 24/25 with 15 goals and 15 assists in 58 matches. A shoulder injury affected his performance, with records and achievements far below those of Rafa. Cole Palmer, on the other hand, also did not have his best year, beyond winning the Club World Cup and the Conference League.
