Javier Tebas has once again targeted FC Barcelona over the 'Olmo case'. The president of LaLiga insists that Barça violated the 'Fair Play' rules and, therefore, their federal license should be revoked.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Javier Tebas gave an interview to the newspaper 'El País' where he harshly criticizes the Higher Sports Council (CSD) for ruling in favor of FC Barcelona in the 'Olmo case'. Although the ruling from the governmental body is not final (it has until April 7 to do so), it is very likely that the organization will side with the blue and garnet team, as it believes that the players (Dani and Pau Víctor) should not be harmed by an administrative issue.

For the head of the association, the intervention of the Council gives a negative image, as it contradicts the 'Fair Play' rules and the actions of both LaLiga and the Federation. "The CSD's resolution shows that it does not understand how licenses are granted. There is an automated process", Tebas began, before giving his account of what happened in the last hours of 2024.

"On December 31, the Barça was informed that it had no 'Fair Play'. The club tried to increase Olmo's license and was told: it cannot be increased, it does not have authorization to hold a license. On January 3, it already had 'Fair Play', but the player had been deregistered on the 31 and could not receive a new license", added the president of LaLiga, who claimed to have requested another precautionary measure to nullify the CSD's initial ruling.

Tebas, Again Critical of Barça and Madrid Over the Super League

On another note, Tebas again referred to the Super League project, which has Barça and Real Madrid as its only sponsors. According to the Spanish leader, the Super League model is elitist and "not serious"  as it has changed formats so many times and does not include a transparent governance model. Furthermore, regarding the allocation of spots, he believes that everything is designed to benefit the big clubs.

"Who is going to participate? The usual ones, Real Madrid and Barcelona. If the same teams always go to a competition that we assume is going to generate a lot of money, it will create an even greater gap in national competitions. And the greater the economic gap, the less competitive it is and the more value it will lose," pointed out the president of LaLiga.
