Jordi Alba announced, through an emotional video, his retirement at the end of the 2025 season with Inter Miami. The full-back will hang up his boots at 36 years old with 22 official titles, 18 of them with Barça
Another FC Barcelona legend recently announced his retirement from professional football. Ten days after Sergio Busquets announced his retirement at the end of the 2025 season with Inter Miami, Jordi Alba has followed in the footsteps of the '5'.
The 36-year-old left-back confirmed his decision to retire from football this year, after lifting 22 official titles after more than 17 years of professional career. The former '18' of Barcelona published an emotional video on his social networks to announce his retirement.
"I feel that the time has come to say goodbye to my career as a professional footballer. It has been almost 20 years enjoying this incredible story that I always dreamed of," explained the player from L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Jordi Alba's message of gratitude to Barcelona and the National Team

During his farewell message, Alba had words of gratitude for all his former teams and the Spanish National Team. The defender played for La Masia and Cornellà before arriving at Valencia. He also played a season at Nàstic de Tarragona prior to his debut in LaLiga in the 2009/10 season.
Jordi returned to Barça in 2012 in exchange for 14 million euros. He spent eleven years there, during which he won 18 trophies, including the Champions League and the Club World Cup in 2015.
"Thanks to FC Barcelona, the club of my life, the one that saw me grow up as a child and allowed me to reach the peak of my career, to live more than an unforgettable decade and conquer all possible titles", said the left-back in his video.
"Today I close this chapter knowing that I gave it my all. Football has been, is, and always will be an essential part of my life. Thank you, football. Thank you for everything."

Jordi Alba Closes the Cycle of the Last Barça Defense to Win the Champions League
With Jordi Alba, the retirement of the entire Barcelona defense that won the Champions League a decade ago in Berlin, against Juventus (3-1), is confirmed. Dani Alves has not officially announced his retirement, but he has not played since January 2023 due to his legal problems. At 42 years old, it is unlikely that the Juazeiro native will sign with any club again.
Gerard Piqué, for his part, retired at the end of 2022 with Barça, while Javier Mascherano did the same in 2020 with Estudiantes de la Plata in Argentina. Of Luis Enrique's lineup in the Champions League final in Munich, only Ter Stegen, Leo Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suárez are still active.
For Alba, his time with Barça included 11 seasons, 459 matches, and 18 official titles. In total, he scored 27 goals, made 99 assists, and was only sent off 3 times. In his last season, he won LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup. Like Sergio Busquets, he left with a letter of freedom in the summer of 2023 to sign for Inter Miami.
Jordi Alba's honours with Barça:
- LaLiga: 6 titles
- Copa del Rey: 5 titles
- Spanish Super Cup: 4 titles
- UEFA Champions League: 1 title
- UEFA Super Cup: 1 title
- FIFA Club World Cup: 1 title
He also won a European Championship and a Nations League with Spain in 2012 and 2023, respectively. With Inter Miami, he won the Leagues Cup in 2023 and the MLS Supporters Shield 23/24.
