OFFICIAL! FIFA approves new regulations on added time in soccer

With the aim to attain a greater effective time in the parties, the FIFA and the International Football Association Board (IFAB) agreed to implement, in all the competitions to world-wide level, a new rule of the 'additional time' that takes like base the approach implemented in Qatar 2022, where in promedió added between 18 and 20 minutes by each party, adding 1 minute by each celebration of goal and by each window of changes.

In this sense, the president of the FIFA, Gianni Infantino, explained the foundations of the new rule to add time of game. "We want that the to add the necessary time was a universal and consistent rule. That it do not initiate and it forget . We want that all the referees know that all has to add the time that was necessary. Time lost by injuries, changes...", it commented the mandator.

Besides, it added: "we Want to improve the behaviour of the players. It is necessary to struggle against the stray of time. We have seen that in the last World-wide added long by this reason". In this sense, Infantino cleared that the celebrations of the goals "form part of the essence of the football", but has to add the time that loses in each celebration.

The Rules of Game 2023/24 will go in in force the next 1 July 2023 and will publish the week entrante. In addition to the new rule for the time added, the FIFA and the IFAB agreed to review the protocol, the procedures and the practical appearances of the VAR with the main parts interested , in addition to the designated as 'VAR light' in stadiums with technological limitations, together with the application of the technology of offside semi-automated.

Better communication with the fans

On the other hand, the FIFA will implement adjust in the communication with the fans so that the decisions of the VAR are clearer.
