La confederación africana tendrá el primer estadio de homenaje a Pelé

The FIFA has announced this Wednesday that the prime minister of Green Cape, José Ulisses Correia and Silva, has said that his government plans renombrar to the "Estádio National" of the country in honour to Peeled, converting to his nation in the first in adding to the initiative of the own organism of the football. "I peeled it was and always it will be somebody to the one who all admire, in Brazil, in the countries lusófonos and in the rest of the world, being an icon that connects to several generations", said Correia and Silva, and added that I Peeled had showed that "the sport has the power to join to the world".

This announcement followed to the recent suggestion of the president of the FIFA, Gianni Infantino, that each one of the 211 associations that conform the organisation appoint at least a stadium or headquarters of football in his country in honour to the Brazilian legend. The ex player died on 29 December to the age of 82 years after a long battle with a cancer and other conditions of health.

"Like homage and recognition to this big figure, that us ennoblece to all, express our intention to appoint to our national stadium the "Estádio Peeled", in an initiative that, create, will be gone on down several countries around the world", added also Correia and Silva. The stadium with capacity for 15.000 viewers, situated in the capital of the country, Praia, was inaugurated in 2014.

The FIFA, decided

By his part, Infantino expressed his gratitude by the initiative. "Thank you very much, Green Cape! It would like me appreciate to the Prime minister, José Ulisses Correia and Silva, to the Minister of Sports, Carlos do Sing Monteiro, and to the Federation of Football of Green Cape in the person of his President, Mário Semedo, by the fact that Green Cape have announced his intention to appoint to the Estádio National after Peeled".

The Swiss civil servant also added that "this pioneering gesture dignifies to the country and honours the memory of Peeled". Equally it explained: "I Expect that more stadiums and stadiums of football of all the world also join to this global tribute. It live the King!". Infantino Did his suggestion while it assisted to a memorial for Peeled in Santos, Brazil, on 2 January and in fact already the FIFA has decided to appoint the field in the headquarters of the FIFA "Estádio Peeled – FIFA Zürich".
