FC Barcelona vs Como 1907: probable lineups, casualties and surprises. Will Hansi Flick be able to line up his gala XI? Find out how the teams arrive

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and Como 1907 from Italy face each other in the 60th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy. Hansi Flick's team is making its final rehearsal prior to their debut in LaLiga against Mallorca next Saturday, seeking their fourth victory in the preseason after a successful Asian tour.

Despite the controversy linked to the injury of Marc-André ter Stegen and the unexpected departure of Iñigo Martínez to Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr, the 'culés' arrive in great form to the official presentation before the 'azulgrana' fans.

The 'Gamper Festival Estrella Damm' will be held at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, with 6,000 spectators in the stands and millions around the world, connected for free through Barça's YouTube channel.

What will be the surprises and tactical variations of Flick's Barça against Como?

In principle, Flick plans to make several tweaks to his lineup from the match against Daegu, again with important adjustments in defense. Joan García would be the starting goalkeeper, with Cubarsí back in the XI alongside Pedri and Rashford.

Goalkeeping and defense

  • Joan García will be in goal, while Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde will be the full-backs. Héctor Fort, like Eric García and Gerard Martín, should enter in the second half. In the center of the defense, Pau Cubarsí should partner Ronald Araujo, with Andreas Christensen waiting for his opportunity on the bench.

Midfield:

  • As a pivot, Frenkie de Jong is expected to be Pedri's partner in midfield, while Gavi would return as the team's attacking midfielder. Fermín López and Dani Olmo, both affected after the Asian tour, would have an initial rest, while Marc Casadó will be available as a substitute.

Forwards:

  • In attack, Raphinha and Marcus Rashford complete the 'azulgrana' attack alongside Lamine Yamal. The Englishman could be the big novelty of the XI, as a '9' instead of the injured Robert Lewandowski. Ferran Torres is the first option, but the 'Shark' is not 100% physically fit either. The '14', on the other hand, is coming off scoring his first goal against Daegu.

Barça's casualties: Who is missing the Gamper due to injury?

At the moment, only three Barça players will be confirmed absentees due to physical problems. The first is Marc Bernal, who despite traveling with the team to Asia did not have minutes on the tour. The midfielder hopes to receive medical clearance for the start of LaLiga, after almost a year injured.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, returned from Korea with a hamstring injury and could be out for about three weeks. The Pole, however, will do everything possible to reappear before the international break in early September.

Finally, the third absence, the most prolonged, is that of Ter Stegen. The goalkeeper underwent surgery on July 29 in Bordeaux and will be out for between 4 and 5 months, according to the deadlines set by the club. This week, LaLiga will confirm the German's time off, after reviewing the 'azulgrana' medical report.

Como's possible surprise lineup! Unprecedented XI for the Italians?

  • Initial XI: Butez; Sergi Roberto, Goldaniga, Kempf, Álex Valle; Perrone, Nico Paz, Cutrone; Da Cunha, Diao, Douvikas.
  • Bench: Vigorito (GK), Sgarbi (GK), Brempt, Strefezza, Jack, Rodríguez, Kühn, Engelhardt, Baturina, Smolcic, Addai, Caqueret, Sannadi, Leborgne, Azón.
  • Injured: Alberto Dossena, Alessandro Gabrielloni.

Cesc Fàbregas' team, meanwhile, has most of its starters available. Butez will be the goalkeeper, while Sergi Roberto and Álex Valle, both trained at La Masia, will be the full-backs, with Goldaniga and Kempf in the center of defense.

Perrone will be the pivot, while Nico Paz and Cutrone will create play on the flanks. Da Cunha and Diao will be the wingers, with Douvikas as the area reference. Players such as Brempt (center-back), Baturina (midfielder) and Addai (winger) can also be starters.

Como is coming off four wins in as many appearances this summer, the last two against Ajax (0-3) and Betis (2-3). This is a rival that, despite being Italian, is very quick to counterattack and exert pressure in the opponent's half.
