Calendar of FC Barcelona

Hansi Flick presents surprises in his squad list for the match between FC Barcelona and Villarreal! The list of 22 players for matchday 37 of LaLiga 24/25 includes the absences of Jules Koundé, Marc Bernal and Ferran Torres, the latter injured prior to the match against Espanyol. With the Liga title secured, the culés seek to maintain their unbeaten record in the second half of the season.

How will these changes affect Barça's performance on matchday 37? Despite the absences of the Frenchman and the 'Shark', Flick has almost the entire squad available. Most notably, the return of Iñigo Martínez after serving his suspension in Cornellà. Also noteworthy is the return of Sergi Domínguez due to the last-minute absence of Ronald Araujo.

The last match of the season at home allows Hansi Flick to have most of the squad available, including Robert Lewandowski, Alejandro Balde, Marc Casadó and Pablo Torre, who were out injured in recent weeks.

Casadó was out for two months due to a partial tear of the external lateral ligament in his right knee suffered in the Liga match against Atlético (2-4), just before the international break in March. Although his absence was feared until the start of the pre-season, the '17' shortened the recovery period and was medically cleared just before the Clásico on matchday 35.

The same happened with Balde, although the absence of the full-back was a little longer than expected. Álex missed Barcelona's last 7 matches due to a distal injury to the biceps femoris of his left thigh, but was able to play against Real Madrid and Espanyol.

Another player who returns to action in LaLiga is Lewandowski, who was absent for three weeks due to the injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh suffered against Celta (4-3). The Pole started against Espanyol and, again, will be in the starting lineup on Sunday, as he needs to score to get into the fight for the Pichichi.

The '9' of Barça is joint leader in the LaLiga goalscoring table with 25 goals, two less than Kylian Mbappé (27). Pablo Torre, meanwhile, is looking to add minutes for the first time since matchday 29 against Girona.

Key Absences in Barcelona's Squad List vs. Villarreal

In the squad list for the match between Barça and Real Madrid, the culé team will have a total of four absentees. The latest addition to this list of absences is Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan left the match against Espanyol in the 51st minute with a knee injury and was ultimately left out of the squad for Matchday 37.

Another addition to this list of absentees is Ferran Torres. The 'Shark' had to undergo surgery for appendicitis before the visit to Cornellà, so he will rest until the summer with Barça. In La Liga, the '7' scored 10 goals in 24/25.

Similarly, Jules Koundé is still out. The Frenchman played practically everything until his injury against Inter, adding 4 goals and 8 assists in 53 matches (4,423'). In the Copa del Rey final, against Madrid, he was the blaugrana hero scoring the title-winning goal in extra time (3-2).

In that sense, the blaugrana team continues to face the absence of four key players in their squad list. Along with Ferran, Araujo and Koundé, the young midfielder Marc Bernal remains on the sidelines.

The youth player suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus in the match against Rayo Vallecano on August 27, and due to the prolonged recovery process, he will miss the rest of the season.

Thus, Barcelona will receive Villarreal with most of their squad available, looking for their 16th victory of the second half of the season and to end the season with a new victory in Montjuïc in what will be the last official match at the Lluís Companys.

With the LaLiga title decided, Hansi Flick will once again opt for massive rotations, probably betting on a majority of youth players, as he made known in the press conference prior to the match. The coach also made it clear that there are no excuses for slowing down despite the celebrations for winning the title.
