Hansi Flick was one win away from the record for consecutive wins in Clásicos. Only Pep Guardiola was able to win his first 5 official matches against Real Madrid, between 2008 and 2010

FC Barcelona suffered their first defeat in Clásicos against Real Madrid since the arrival of Hansi Flick. On Sunday, the Azulgrana team fell by the narrowest of margins at the Santiago Bernabéu (2-1), ending a streak of four consecutive victories against the 'Casa Blanca' in all competitions.

In the 24/25 season, Barça thrashed Madrid at the Bernabéu (0-4) and also won at Montjuïc (4-3) to seal the Liga title. The 'culés' also defeated 'los blancos' in the finals of the Spanish Super Cup (2-5) and the Copa del Rey (3-2). With this, Flick's team achieved a historic clean sweep to complete the national treble.

However, the streak was broken on matchday 10 of LaLiga 25/26. With Flick suspended for his sending off against Girona (double yellow), in addition to 7 absentees due to injury, the Catalan team lost by the narrowest of margins with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham, both in the first half. Fermín López had scored the partial 1-1 before the break.

Flick couldn't match Guardiola's streak in Clásicos

Thus, the team led by Hansi Flick left their winning streak against Real Madrid at 4. The record is still held by Pep Guardiola, who was able to win his first 5 official matches against the 'merengues', all of them, of course, in league games.

In 2008/09, Barça won 2-0 at Camp Nou and 2-6 at the Bernabéu to seal the Liga title. In 2009/10, the Blaugrana won both matches again, 1-0 in the Azulgrana temple and 0-2 in Chamartín. Both victories were key to revalidating the trophy with 99 points, 3 more than the 'Casa Blanca'.

Already in 2010/11, despite the arrival of José Mourinho to Madrid, the 'merengues' were thrashed at Camp Nou (5-0) in what was also Barça's fifth consecutive victory. The streak was cut short in the second round of that League (1-1) at the Bernabéu.

The 'Pep team's' unbeaten streak in Clásicos would end at 6, after the Barça defeat in the 2010/11 Copa del Rey final (0-1). Flick had won a friendly against Real Madrid played in July 2024 (2-1), but this match does not count as official.
