Flick matched Guardiola as the only Barça coach with 4 consecutive wins in Clásicos, but his numbers are even better! Find out why
FC Barcelona's victory against Real Madrid (4-3) allowed Hansi Flick to become the second coach in the history of the Azulgrana team capable of winning his first four Clásicos consecutively.
On a Sunday afternoon in which the culés were one win away from reaching their 28th La Liga title, the German coach matched Pep Guardiola's record, who also defeated the 'merengues' in his first four official matches (all in La Liga).
Flick, however, had the luxury of winning two La Liga Clásicos (0-4 and 4-3), in addition to two finals in the Spanish Super Cup (2-5) and the Copa del Rey (3-2). With this, Barça is about to win the three domestic titles in dispute this season.
This was the impressive streak of six undefeated Clásicos for Guardiola's Barça
Guardiola, although he won the sextuple in his first season, only faced Madrid four times during his first two seasons on the Azulgrana bench. In his first Clásico, Pep won 2-0 on matchday 15 of LaLiga 08/09.
In the second round, on matchday 34, both teams arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu separated by only 4 points. Barça crushed the Whites (2-6) and sealed the tournament.
In the following season, despite the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Madrid fell in their two matches without even scoring a goal (1-0 and 0-2). Thanks to this, Barcelona kept La Liga with a three-point advantage (99 against 96).
The 'Pep team' extended its winning streak until 10/11 with a 'manita' in the first round (5-0). Then, in April, there were four consecutive Clásicos where Madrid, finally, was able to add points against the Catalans (1-1 in La Liga) and break the culé's undefeated streak in the Copa del Rey final (1-0).
Flick's records in Clásicos surpass those of Guardiola!
In that sense, although the current Manchester City coach was undefeated in his first 6 Clásicos (5 wins and 1 draw), the goal difference of Flick's team is superior to that of the 'Pep Team'.
Between 2008 and 2010, Barça won four consecutive La Liga Clásicos with a difference of 11 goals in favor and only 2 against. This season, the culés scored 16 goals against Madrid, conceding 5.
No team in history had been able to score such a large number of goals against the 'Casa Blanca' in the same season. The previous record was also held by the Azulgrana team, with 13 goals in 6 matches in 2011/12.
In his last season, Guardiola won the Spanish Super Cup against the Whites with a global score of 5-4 (at that time, the tournament was played over two legs). In addition, the culés won the head-to-head in La Liga (4-3) and eliminated them from the Copa del Rey (4-3 on aggregate).
Madrid, however, kept that La Liga title, while the Catalans closed the best cycle in their history (14 titles in 4 years) with the Copa del Rey.

Flick's Barça's full house, unprecedented in the history of Clásicos

In addition, Hansi Flick's record has a brutal added value, since the Azulgrana team, in 24/25, for the first time was able to win four consecutive Clásicos against Real Madrid.
In his first two seasons on the Azugrana bench, Guardiola won his two matches in La Liga, but both teams avoided crossing paths in the Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, or Champions League until the third season of the Santpedor native with the team.
And it is that, in its 125 years of history, Barça had never won three consecutive Clásicos, until the victory in the Copa del Rey final on May 26. The best balance against Madrid was 4 wins and 1 loss in the 82/83 season, a record that was left behind with Sunday's victory in Montjuïc.
In addition, Barcelona defeated the Whites for the first time at the Lluís Companys, after the narrow defeat last season (1-2). Adding the preseason friendly Clásico in the United States (2-1), the Azulgrana team has five wins in a row against the 'merengues'.
In this way, Flick's Barça ratified its dominance against Carlo Ancelotti's team. The Italian, finally, will leave the 'Casa Blanca' with 9 wins and 11 losses in 20 Clásicos managed with the 'merengues'.
