Hansi Flick's Barça hosts Getafe this Sunday, again at home at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in LaLiga 25/26. The 'culés' arrive with little rest and significant absences, but with the mindset to add another victory
FC Barcelona returns to action in LaLiga 2025/26 this Sunday against Getafe (21:00 CEST). Hansi Flick's team will have to play their second home game of the season again at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, while awaiting the resolution of the operating licenses for the Spotify Camp Nou in the coming days. For the fifth matchday, the 'azulgrana' team arrives with three significant absences due to injury.
As in the last match, against Valencia (6-0), and in the Champions League debut against Newcastle (1-2), the 'culés' will not be able to count on Lamine Yamal, Gavi, or Alejandro Balde due to injury. The full-back hopes to receive medical clearance this week, while the winger and midfielder, with luck, would be available to host PSG on October 1.
Additionally, Barça arrives with just 72 hours of rest after the match in Newcastle (Thursday). The team returned to Catalonia on Friday afternoon, so several adjustments are expected in Flick's XI. Even more so considering that there will also be a La Liga matchday during the week.

Barcelona aims for its eighth victory against Getafe on Catalan soil
Although they are a difficult opponent, Barça dominates the recent history against Getafe with authority. The balance in the last seven seasons registers a full streak of 'culé' victories on Catalan soil, with a total of 17 goals in favor and only 4 against.
In fact, the 'azulones' have not scored against Barça as visitors since the third matchday of 21/22 (2-1) and have not managed to add a point in the 'azulgrana' stronghold since matchday 23 of 17/18 (0-0). For Sunday's match, José Bordalás' team arrives with a balance of 3 wins and 1 loss, with 6 goals scored and 4 conceded.
Flick's team, on the other hand, is the highest-scoring team in the tournament, with 13 goals in 4 matches, followed by Real Madrid and Villarreal (both with 10, but with one more match). Barcelona won 3 of 4 matches, with a single slip-up against Rayo on matchday 3 (1-1).
So far in 2025, the 'azulgrana' team has played 23 La Liga matches, with only one defeat and three draws. The defeat, in fact, occurred at home against Villarreal (2-3), already with the title decided in the penultimate matchday of 24/25.

Hansi Flick will once again tweak his lineup in the Barça-Getafe match

Understanding the context of the match, with little rest and a very demanding schedule, Hansi Flick will once again draw from the squad depth to face Getafe. Pau Cubarsí will go to the bench after finishing the match against Newcastle with discomfort. Eric García should replace him, although Andreas Christensen also has good chances of entering the XI.
Joan García will remain in goal and, barring any surprises, Jules Koundé and Gerard Martín will also repeat as full-backs. Frenkie de Jong and Pedri may repeat in midfield, although Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal are ready to add minutes if the coach needs it.
As an attacking midfielder, it is likely that Dani Olmo will start again as a substitute behind Fermín López, although the player from Huelva did not shine in England. Two fixed bets in attack will be Raphinha and Marcus Rashford, both in great form. Especially the Englishman, a key figure in the Champions League debut.
As a '9', there is the doubt between Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski. The 'Shark' was a starter in the first four league matches, while 'Lewy' was in the XI against Newcastle. Roony Bardghji will await a new opportunity, after playing the first half against Valencia.

Injured: This is the state of Barcelona's infirmary against Getafe

In any case, the main objective of the coaching staff is to intelligently manage minutes and avoid new injury absences. In addition to Marc-André ter Stegen, the only prolonged absence in the squad, Lamine Yamal, Gavi, and Alejandro Balde remain sidelined.
The player from Mataró must rest for at least one more week, waiting to see how his discomfort in the pubis progresses. The same is true for the Andalusian midfielder, who for now responds well to conservative treatment on his right knee.
With Balde, everything points to the full-back receiving medical clearance this week, as his injury to the left hamstring was not serious. All three were absent against Valencia and, in the case of Gavi, also against Rayo prior to the international break.

Getafe will seek to 'snatch' a point at the Estadi Johan Cruyff
Getafe, on their part, arrives with a full complement of available players for matchday 5 of LaLiga and the good news of the registration of Allan Nyom during Saturday. The Cameroonian defender already played last season with the Madrid team, but had not been enabled due to problems with 'Fair Play'.
The Madrid team has 9 points out of a possible 12, with victories against Celta (0-2), Sevilla (1-2), and Oviedo (3-0), but a tough defeat in their last away match at Mestalla (3-0) against Valencia. In that sense, their main objective will be to rescue a point at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, a stronghold where, for now, Barça has performed at a very high level this summer.
In addition to the thrashing of Valencia, the 'culés' also dispatched a 'manita' against Como (5-0) in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The balance, for now, is 11 goals in favor and none against in two presentations, one of them of a friendly nature.
Therefore, the 'azulones' will repeat their line of five defenders with Femenía, Akbar, Domingos Duarte, Dakonam, and Rico, while David Soria remains undisputed in goal with the aim of preserving a clean sheet for as long as possible.
In midfield, Arambarri, Milla, and Martín complete a lineup that, again, will bet on defensive order as its main weapon. Up front, Adrián Liso and Borja Mayoral will have the difficult mission of materializing the few opportunities that the visitors may generate.
