Five Barça players at risk of suspension due to yellow cards in LaLiga

The FC Barcelona squad has accumulated a total of 40 yellow cards in the first 23 matches of LaLiga, which equates to 1.73 bookings per match. In this regard, five players from the Blaugrana squad are at risk of suspension for reaching 5 yellow cards this season, something that, so far, no Barça player has suffered, unlike Real Madrid, which has already lost Vinicius Jr. and Luka Modric for one match due to this reason.

The Barça players at risk of suspension are Iñigo Martínez, Pau Cubarsí, Fermín López, Gavi, and Raphinha, who each have accumulated 3 yellow cards. In the case of Fermín, the midfielder also received a red card last match against Sevilla (1-4), so he will be suspended for the match on Monday against Rayo in Montjuïc (21:00 CEST). Of the five, the one who has needed the fewest matches to reach this number of cards is Gavi (13).

Barça has already exceeded its limit of expulsions in LaLiga 23/24

In this regard, Hansi Flick has a problem to solve concerning disciplinary issues in the Blaugrana team. With 15 league matches still to play, Barça has already exceeded its limit of expulsions from last season, where only Raphinha (in matchday 1) received a direct red card in the tournament during the visit to Getafe. 

This season, on matchday 6, Ferran Torres (against Girona) and Marc Casadó (against Celta on matchday 14)  were also sent off, although Marc's expulsion was due to a double booking, while 'Tiburón' did receive a direct red. In fact, that is the only card that the forward has received this season in LaLiga. 

So far, a total of eight Barça players have accumulated 2 yellow cards, including Jules Koundé, Lamine Yamal, Pedri González, Héctor Fort, Pau Víctor, Gerard Martín, Casadó himself, and the injured Marc Bernal. Additionally, nine other Barcelona players have recorded a single booking in the first 23 matches, totaling 40 yellow cards and 3 red cards in the 24/25 season.
