After 'Txingurri's' departure and Quique Setién's subsequent arrival, the Catalans finished second with 82 units, 5 points behind Madrid (87).

The other two precedents date back to the 2013/14 and 2006/07 seasons. Barça led at the halfway point with 50 and 39 points, respectively, but the title went to Atlético and Real Madrid. 'Tata' Martino and Frank Rijkaard were Barça's coaches in those seasons.
