Kylian Mbappé is closing in on Robert Lewandowski in the LaLiga 24/25 scoring table after scoring a brace against UD Las Palmas (4-1). The Pole has gone three matches without scoring.
Robert Lewandowski's goal drought in LaLiga has allowed Kylian Mbappé to close to just two goals behind the Pole in the top scorers ranking of LaLiga 2024-25. The FC Barcelona '9' could not find the net against Getafe (1-1) and has now gone three consecutive matches in the tournament without scoring, his worst streak of the season.
The player from Bondy, on the other hand, took advantage of Real Madrid's thrashing of UD Las Palmas (4-1) to score a brace. 'Kiki' opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 18th minute and extended the lead in the 36th with a partial score of 3-1. The Frenchman also had a goal disallowed for offside, something that Jude Bellingham and Fede Valverde also experienced during the matchday.
With this, Mbappé reached 12 goals in LaLiga (4 from penalties), two less than Lewandowski's 16. Robert last scored in matchday 16, against Betis (2-2) and will look to break his 'drought' next Sunday in Montjuïc against Valencia, a stadium where he hasn't scored in the tournament since the 'manita' against Sevilla (5-1) on October 20.
Raphinha and Budimir remain in the 'race' for the Pichichi
The LaLiga scoring podium is completed by Raphinha, who dropped to third place in the ranking after Kylian's brace. The Brazilian remains with 11 goals and has also failed to score in his last four appearances in the tournament. Another player still high on the scoring table despite his drought is Ante Budimir. The Osasuna forward hasn't scored in four matchdays (2-2 against Alavés), but remains fourth, with 10 goals.
Further back is Dodi Lukebakio (Sevilla), with 9 goals, while four other players are tied with 8 goals in sixth place, including Vinicius Jr., Alexander Sorloth, Ayoze Pérez, and Kike García, who scored a historic 'hat-trick' in the matchday in the Betis-Alavés (1-3). For Barça, Lamine Yamal remains with 5 goals, the same as Dani Olmo and one more than Pedri González (4).
