Real Madrid is looking for a left-back. After Alphonso Davies left them hanging to renew with Bayern, the whites are targeting Theo Hernández
Alphonso Davies was the latest failure of Real Madrid in the transfer market. After years of work trying to secure the Canadian and bring him in as a free agent once his contract with Bayern Munich expired in June 2025, the player decided to ignore the offer from the whites to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena until 2030.
The renewal of the North American with the Bavarians was a severe blow to the planning of the Madrid entity, where they had taken for granted the arrival of the defender at the Santiago Bernabéu at the end of the season. For this reason, the sports management has set in motion the machinery to strengthen a position where neither Mendy nor Fran García provide guarantees, and one name stands out above the rest.
Real Madrid targets Theo Hernández
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Madrid has intensified its interest in Theo Hernández. At 27 years old, the defender has established himself as one of the best in the world in his position, and his contractual situation invites hope for his return to Chamartín, where he was part of Zinedine Zidane's squad in the 2017/18 season without much prominence.
The Frenchman's contract expires in 2026, and negotiations for his renewal are stalled, which is why AC Milan would not mind selling him. Although the player would like to stay, the Milanese would be willing to part with him for a figure slightly below 50 million euros if he does not extend his link with the club, a situation that could be seized by the whites.
This amount would exceed the economic expectations of a Madrid that aimed to make a quality leap in the position at zero cost with Davies, but after losing the option of the Canadian, they could relent in their demands and go after the signing of the Frenchman in the coming months.
