Barça loses a possible 'lever': Mingueza aims to continue at Celta

Despite retaining 50% of the pass, Barça will not receive income for Mingueza this summer: Celta is moving forward to renew him as soon as possible
FC Barcelona is starting to see the 'Mingueza lever' as increasingly distant. It is worth remembering that the Azulgrana team still retains 50% of the rights of the right-back, currently owned by Celta de Vigo, and that he has a release clause of €20M.
However, apparently that release clause will not be exercised in this summer transfer market 2025/26. Despite the fact that it has been said that Mingueza is of interest to clubs such as Unai Emery's Aston Villa, the Vigo team is making every possible effort to seal his continuity at Balaídos during this summer window.
Celta accelerates to renew Mingueza and stop the interest of other clubs
According to the local newspaper El Faro de Vigo, negotiations for the renewal of the Spanish international are already quite advanced. So it would not be surprising if his new link with the Galician team is announced sooner rather than later.
This, presumably, would be a declaration of intent by Celta de Vigo regarding Óscar Mingueza: not letting him leave this summer. An idea that gains strength if one takes into account that the player from Santa Perpetua de Moguda is a structural piece in the scheme of coach Claudio Giráldez, to the point that he was the player he used the most in the 2024/25 season.
A player valued for his tactical versatility and great sporting conditions. A piece that they cannot afford to lose in a campaign in which they will compete in European competition for the first time in eight years.
Barcelona loses another source of income after several successful sales with clauses
Thus, FC Barcelona loses one more way to raise money in this summer market with a formula that has given them very good results. In fact, only in this summer window, with players they let go at the time and for whom they kept a future benefit clause in case of sale, they have added a not inconsiderable amount of €10.5M, with operations such as:
- €8M for Jean-Clair Todibo after his transfer from OGC Nice to West Ham
- €1.5M for Ludovit Reis after his transfer from Hamburg to Club Brugge
- €600,000 for Ilaix Moriba after his transfer from RB Leipzig to Celta de Vigo
- €400,000 for Álex Collado after his transfer from Real Betis to Al Shamal SC
- €50,000 for Ferran Jutglà after his transfer from Club Brugge to Celta de Vigo
Benefits that are added to what was obtained from transfers such as:
- Pau Víctor – €12M
- Álex Valle - €6M
- Pablo Torre – €5M
- Sergi Domínguez – €1.5M
- Noah Darvich – €1M
In a market in which Barcelona has managed to move opportunely, but in which it has not yet finalized its first great stellar sale. Will they manage to make one? Time will tell.
