FC Barcelona does not rule out signing another goalkeeper this summer. Deco's new target for the 'culé' goal could be in LaLiga: Álex Remiro
FC Barcelona has set its sights on Álex Remiro, Real Sociedad's goalkeeper, as part of their plans to reinforce the goal in the next transfer market. The 29-year-old is having another great season with the team from San Sebastián, standing out for his consistency and leadership between the posts, which makes him one of the best goalkeepers in LaLiga currently.
In 29 matches (2,610'), the player from Cascante has conceded 31 goals in the tournament, with a total of 12 clean sheets (tied with Jan Oblak). The Slovenian, however, maintains the lead in the Zamora Trophy as the goalkeeper with the fewest goals conceded (24). However, the latest information points to Deco's interest in signing him if, finally, Iñaki Peña decides to leave this summer. In principle, Barça is well on track to renew Szczesny, but incorporating another goalkeeper is not entirely ruled out, especially thinking about 2026.
Álex Remiro, a very complicated target for Barça
The main problem for Barça with Remiro is that he has a contract with Real Sociedad until 2027, after having renewed in June 2022. His release clause was raised to 70 million euros, which ensures that his departure would be costly for any interested team. In addition, the player himself has publicly expressed his happiness at the club and his intention to remain there.
In recent interviews, Álex highlighted how good he feels in the 'txuri-urdin' team and the affection he receives from the fans, although he acknowledged that in football circumstances can change. Beyond that, since his arrival in 2019, the goalkeeper has established himself as an undisputed starter and has contributed significantly to Real's successes during Imanol Alguacil's cycle, including European qualifications and titles such as the Copa del Rey in 2020.
Barça has other goalkeepers on its radar
Therefore, Barça considers Álex Remiro an interesting option due to his experience and good ball handling, characteristics that fit with the style of the team led by Hansi Flick. However, the operation could be complicated due to the high cost of the player and his commitment to Real Sociedad, although his clause will decrease in 2026, before his last year of contract. In addition, the 'azulgrana' team is evaluating other more economical and younger alternatives, such as Joan García (Espanyol), who is also on their radar.
